showed this season that he can play high-level corner. At 5’9”, 170 pounds, he covers, competes, and tackles with confidence.
His ball skills stand out. Monroe tracks the football well, plays through the hands, and rips the ball free even after receivers secure it. He consistently finds ways to disrupt the catch point.
Movement-wise, he’s smooth. His transitions in and out of breaks are clean. Where he really excels is in zone coverage. With his eyes on the quarterback, he diagnoses quickly and closes on throws.
He’s also not afraid to support the run. That makes him a strong nickel option, especially against shifty receivers. With the way he finished the season, Monroe is poised to take a jump. He has all the tools to become one of New Jersey’s breakout defensive backs next year.

NJ
has officially arrived as one of the state’s breakout defensive playmakers. Over the last two games, the young safety has shown the ability to impact every level of the defense — from blitzing off the edge to defending the deep ball. His performance against DePaul Catholic was a statement outing: one sack, two tackles for loss, and two crucial pass breakups, including one that saved a touchdown.
While Monroe may not have the prototypical size for the position, he more than makes up for it with instincts, toughness, and football IQ. He’s fearless in run support, wrapping up consistently in one-on-one situations and taking smart angles to the ball. His ability to diagnose plays quickly and deliver in space adds tremendous value to St. Peter’s Prep’s defense.

turned in one of his most complete performances of the season, proving to be a tone-setter for St. Peter’s Prep’s defense. Though the team came up short, Monroe was everywhere on the field—showing elite instincts, toughness, and range from the safety position.
At just 5’8”, Monroe plays much bigger than his frame suggests. He recorded a sack, multiple tackles for loss, and two key pass breakups that stalled DePaul drives. What stood out most was his fearlessness—he attacked downhill in run support, shot gaps cleanly, and wasn’t afraid to meet bigger players head-on.
In coverage, Monroe displayed excellent awareness and timing, breaking on routes and playing through receivers’ hands to dislodge passes at the catch point. His mix of physicality, football IQ, and energy made him one of the brightest spots for Prep’s defense. Performances like this show why

. Nyko displayed silky smooth hip movement as he mirrored the receivers from beginning to end. It was impressive to see him press up at the line and go toe to toe with the WR as they made their way downfield. Nyko is naturally gift defender. He has the instinct to make split second decisions and make a play on the ball. Very few receivers ever gained more than a few inches of separation from Nyko as his feet were always moving as receivers changed speeds and directions.
To wrap it all up, Nyko showed he can watch the receivers eyes and get his head around just in time to get a hand on the ball and break up the pass. St. Peter’s Prep is getting itself one of the future high profile prospects at the cornerback position.

On the short side right now, but very quick and dangerous on the field. Another East Orange native thriving. Very fast and versatile on the field. Could easily see him playing corner or slot on the next level. Scrappy kid that can play in trail all the way across the field to bait quarterbacks, but can then turn on the jets to catch up and punch the ball away.

I took a grand total of zero reps against Monroe at the Prep Redzone Next Rising Prospect Camp in New Jersey, and even I was feeling the frustration he was causing the Wide Receivers. Just 2028 prospect, he was downright smothering wide receivers and pushing the limits of defensive pass interference with how much hand-fighting he was doing while running with receivers. During one stretch on one-on-one’s, I saw him lock down three different wide receivers in a row so tightly, the quarterback either had to eat the ball or just throw up a prayer to end the rep.
