The youngest prospect in attendance was St. Peter’s Alexandwer Whelan. Unfortunately at this event his youth showed. Whelan needs a bit more time to develop, athletically at least, to compete with the more seasoned prospects at the high school level. One quick fix for him would be to stay square to his opponent when defending; whereas a bright spot to his game was that he continually plays through the ball.

St. Peter’s Alexander Whelan Alexander Whelan 5'11" NJ brought a prototypical safety build to the field and showed several encouraging traits throughout NJ Exposure Series. He was at his best when carrying receivers vertically, consistently staying in the hip pocket of wideouts downfield. While he occasionally struggled to match receivers through sudden route breaks and changes of direction, he displayed strong competitiveness and awareness to recover. Time and time again, Alexander found ways to work back into the play, positioning himself between the receiver and the football to disrupt passes and swat the ball away. Alexander’s effort and ability to battle through reps makes him an intriguing defensive prospect moving forward.
