With back to back weekends with PRZ Exposure Series events, it is time to turn our attention back into New Jersey where two weeks ago DBs across the region put on a showing. What impressed me most in this bunch is how well they hung with the larger group of WRs. The defensive backs were doing double time during the live action, giving them more reps and time to perfect their craft at the camp. Even though it may have been fatigiung putting in that extra work, none of the DBs showed any signs of it. Within the group itself, four DBs in particular put on notable performance, highlighted by [player_tooltip player_id='1690044' first='Nysir' last='Golden'], the camp MVP. Here are the player evals for those 4 lockdown defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1690044' first='Nysir' last='Golden'] set the standard for defensive back play throughout the camp, turning in a performance that few players were able to match. From the testing portion to live competition, his athletic profile was impossible to ignore. He generated speed effortlessly and showed the type of closing burst that erased separation before quarterbacks could capitalize on it.

In coverage, Nysir played with exceptional body control and fluidity, allowing him to transition smoothly and mirror receivers through every phase of the route. His awareness was equally impressive, as he routinely recognized route concepts early and positioned himself to take away passing options before the ball was ever released. Nysir's on field performance solidified his position as the DB MVP at NJ Exposure Series.

[player_tooltip player_id='2208732' first='Justin' last='Burch'] put together an impressive performance in New Jersey, showcasing the athleticism and competitiveness that coaches look for in a defensive back. One of the faster players in attendance, he moved effortlessly during testing, particularly in the 40-yard dash where he appeared to glide across the field with smooth strides. That speed translated directly into live action, as he consistently closed on receivers in a hurry and erased separation before plays could develop. Justin was also highly aggressive at the catch point, attacking the football with confidence and making it difficult for receivers to finish contested catches. Justin's speed and closing ability made him one of the more intriguing defensive backs at the event.

Despite being a member of the 2029 class, [player_tooltip player_id='2161844' first='Pierce' last='Noel'] showed he belonged by competing at a high level against older and more experienced receivers throughout the event. He consistently held his own in coverage, staying attached to routes and making it difficult for wideouts to create meaningful separation. With a bigger frame and commanding presence on the field, he looked comfortable matching physicality while still covering ground efficiently. Pierce was a very close second in the Defensive Back MVP conversation thanks to his consistency and impact across the day. Looking ahead, his skill set projects extremely well to safety, where his range and ability to close space quickly could make him a tackling machine once the season begins.

[player_tooltip player_id='2206327' first='Elijah' last='Musa'] showcased an athletic build and several traits that translate well to the next level throughout the event. He did a great job using his hands at the line of scrimmage to disrupt receivers early, throwing them off balance and messing with their release and timing. However, during live reps Elijah showed a tendency to stop moving his feet. What stood out, though, was his ability to recover. Elijah's catch-up speed kicked in immediately, allowing him to close the gap, regain positioning, and arrive in time to break up passes. I was encouraged with what I saw out of him and I forecast a bright future starting this fall for Musa.

St. Peter's [player_tooltip player_id='2205791' first='Alexander' last='Whelan'] brought a prototypical safety build to the field and showed several encouraging traits throughout NJ Exposure Series. He was at his best when carrying receivers vertically, consistently staying in the hip pocket of wideouts downfield. While he occasionally struggled to match receivers through sudden route breaks and changes of direction, he displayed strong competitiveness and awareness to recover. Time and time again, Alexander found ways to work back into the play, positioning himself between the receiver and the football to disrupt passes and swat the ball away. Alexander's effort and ability to battle through reps makes him an intriguing defensive prospect moving forward.
