has been an X-factor for us over the last few seasons. Lavine can do so many different things well on both sides of the ball and he feels like Millwood’s own swiss army knife with all the things he can bring to the table. Lavine hasn’t had to play much offense because of their growing depth at running back. But he’s still a game-wrecker on the defensive side of the ball. Lavine has certainly had this game circled on his own personal calendar with how the game last year ended up. He’s going to be hungry to get on the field and help out a Millwood front seven that was dominant in last year’s match-up.

this season. The Falcons are another team that will be contending for a state championship when December rolls around. Millwood’s only loss this season came in the season opener and Lavine did not play in that game. They’re unbeaten with him back in the lineup this fall and he provides a two-way punch that is hard to stop. On offense, Lavine is a very physical runner and looks like a defensive star with the football in his hands. Then on defense, Lavine provides versatility because he can line up at a few different spots and cause a lot of problems for opponents. Millwood’s front seven has the potential to lead the Falcons all the way to a state championship and Lavine is the leader of that unit. This summer, Lavine committed to North Texas.

and that’s talking about in Class 2A and in the state, regardless of class. Wherever Lavine lines up on offense, and there’s been a few different positions, he’s made an impact. On the defensive side of the ball, he’s an absolute nightmare to deal with and he combines with Carter to give Millwood a very strong front seven. Lavine missed most of his sophomore year and came back strong last year, only to get hurt in the state title game. We didn’t get a chance to see him against Heritage Hall but it appears that he’s back and stronger than ever.

at the running back and linebacker position. Lavine was on our radar following his freshman season and he unfortunately had his sophomore season shortened because of an injury. Lavine came back last season as a junior and made up for lost time with a big year on both sides of the ball. Lavine is a big powerful runner that could be the top ball carrier after the graduation of Rickey Hunt. On defense, Lavine will be tasked with leading a Millwood defense, and specifically a front seven that has to keep Bass contained. It’s easier said than done but Lavine has the ability and experience to handle the task.

had the kind of season we saw from him in 2022. During 2021, Lavine had to sit out the majority of his sophomore season with an injury. And there was no doubt that he was hungry to get back on the field and be an impact player for the Falcons on both sides of the ball. On offense, Lavine shared running back duties with Hunt and would turn around and be a terrorizing defensive end or linebacker hybrid. He finished the year with nearly ten sacks on the season and he’s going to look to up the production on both sides of the ball this fall. But with Hunt graduating, that’s going to leave a void on offense and we anticipate Lavine to have more duties at running back and he might not be alone in that.

is a big reason why. The Falcons had a rare year where they missed the playoffs in 2021. Lavine had to sit out the majority of that season with an injury. He was back and healthy in 2022 and the Falcons made it all the way to the state championship game before losing to Washington. Lavine is a big physical running back on offense and then a very disruptive defensive player along the line of scrimmage for the Falcons. When we first saw Lavine, following his freshman season, we thought he would project to a running back at the next level but he’s definitely shown plenty of value on the defensive side of the ball. He is another perfect example of a prototypical athlete that plays on both sides of the ball at a very high level.

to both sides of the ball. The two-way star for the Falcons missed significant time as a sophomore and came back with a vengeance in 2022. Lavine is a hard-nosed running back on offense but it was what he did on defense in the two times I saw Millwood in person that really stood out. Lavine is a very athletic edge rusher and caused a lot of problems for opponents during the 2022 season. Halfway through the 2022 season, we thought that we were going to move Lavine over to just defense but he still put up some numbers on offense that you have to keep a look out for. He’s very similar to prospects on this breakdown like

. After missing almost all of his sophomore season with a knee injury, Lavine has come back this season and provided a massive spark for the Falcons on both sides of the ball. When we first saw Lavine, he really impressed us as a running back but has moved around this season, playing multiple positions. When we checked out Millwood earlier this season, Lavine jumped off the charts as a defensive end, getting into the backfield at will. On offense, Lavine has shined as a running back and tight end and overall power player with the ball in his hands. As a prospect, we’re starting to lean towards defense for Lavine but we’re excited to see him in person again this weekend.

isn’t making his debut on the 2024 rankings, but he is making his debut as an athlete instead of a running back prospect. After missing the majority of his sophomore season with a leg injury, Lavine was hungry to get back on the field and the Falcons have been outstanding so far this season, with their only blemish on the record being a close loss to Heritage Hall in the season opener. Lavine still lines up at running back occasionally, but he has become more of a goal line threat in terms of carries as a power runner. Lavine has also lined up as a tight end and then he’s been outstanding on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive end or linebacker. Seeing that kind of versatility from Lavine is the number one reason we moved Lavine over to the athlete position. After a breakout freshman season, Lavine is enjoying another strong season after missing last year. He’s been making up for lost time.

after he missed his sophomore season with a knee injury. Millwood was careful with how much they used Lavine on the offensive side of the ball but he’s definitely going to be their power back this fall and even used as a tight end in certain situations. But what really impressed us about his game was what we saw from him on the defensive side of the ball. He was lining up as a defensive end or outside linebacker depending on the formation and he was getting after it on that side of the ball. If we had to project based on his production on Thursday night, we’re very intrigued about his abilities as a prospect on defense moving forward. But like with Turnbull, we’re wanting to see more from him when the weather isn’t so bad and the field conditions are a little better to see what he does on offense.
