K.J. McClain from St. Joe’s Regional is the latest in the McClain lineage to commit to Power 4 football. His brother Jaylen stars at Ohio State, and now K.J. is headed to Tennessee. At 6-foot, 180 pounds, K.J. brings physicality, instincts, and toughness to the secondary. He’s a sure tackler with a nose for the ball. Tennessee gets a defensive back who’s ready to compete in the SEC from day one.

Currently the 2nd ranked DB in the state, KJ McClain is ready to climb up the rankings and take the top spot by the time the season begins. With the size to be an elite safety, KJ was able to blow up outside runs better than anyone in his class this past season. Making 75 tackles in 2023, KJ is a textbook tackler that shines especially in the open field. Fancy footwork does nothing to KJ, as he stays composed and brings the ball carrier to the ground swiftly. With some of the best footwork you will find in the secondary, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if KJ tallied over 100 tackles by the end of next fall.

The second safety on this list but arguably the most talented in the state, Kenyon “KJ” McClain may be the next great DB to come out of Seton Hall Prep. KJ is truly playing at another level that most can’t come close to. A flawless tackler, KJ was impressive in his ability to get low and bring the runner down to the ground swiftly. A safety that can fly upfield and cover sideline to sideline, KJ will be gaining national attention soon as he has already garnished offers from the top programs in the region.
