. Alvarez’s greatest strength might be the strength in his hands, as he grabs cloth on the inside to control his matchup. When pulling we see him have a forward lean that allows him to deliver solid impact blocks. Mr. Fundamental, Alvarez has a good base that he manages to maintain when drive blocking – especially showcased when working on double teams, where he often turns defenders’ shoulders from his attacking point; as such, Alvarez puts himself in prime positon to win at the second level. Similarly, he gets tremendous vertical displacement on his doubles well. Skip pulling comes easy, as Alvarez keeps his eyes peeled inside for the first possible treat. When pass setting, I thought Alvarez showed good balance, staying light on his feet so he is able to adjust and counter.

At 6’4” 285 pounds, he combines athleticism with a physical edge, making him a dominant force in the trenches. His recruitment is gaining momentum, and he has recently earned offers from Penn, Georgetown, and Harvard—no surprise given his impressive 4.0 GPA.
What stands out most about Cristian is his ability to move. He moves with efficiency and control, whether pulling or getting out in space on screens. St. Joe’s trusts him as a lead puller, a testament to his athleticism and football IQ. He also works well in tandem, executing double teams and finishing blocks with authority. His aggression pops on tape—he plays with a mean streak and consistently low pad level, particularly in run blocking.
With St. Joe’s Regional returning a strong roster, they’re set to be a powerhouse next season. Cristian will play a key role in paving the way for standout quarterback

is a physically imposing end who made 2 tackles in 2 games for the Green Knights last fall.
Physical is the operative word to describe Alvarez’s approach. He uses his physicality to get consistent penetration in the backfield against lesser opponents. Equally as impressive, Alvarez effectively strings along reach blocks forcing ball carriers to cut back inside to his help. What do both these traits have in common? They are a result of him getting his hands on the man in front of him each and every play. Alvarez’s technique allows him to rip into either gap to make plays as well. Closing speed is something Alvarez possesses as well, as he seems to accelerate as he closes in on the ball carrier. Alvarez plays a bit high, but keep in mind he is such a young player that this will get corrected as time goes on. We also would love to see more recent film of his.
With Alvarez lining up against them, opponents of the Green Knights are sure to be green with envy his coming season wishing that he was on their squad.
