has positioned himself nicely to have a fantastic 2026 season. He has put in the work and continued to sharpen all of his tools. He has always possessed good footwork and a smooth throwing motion who displayed a ton of grit and the ability to continue getting better. He has improved in his accuracy, and throws with great velocity. He got a taste of the big leagues last year, and I believe Grayson is ready to take a huge step in development and be an absolute problem.

A gunsligner out of The Mitten, De La Salle Collegiate’s Grayson Thurston was one of an elite handful of prospects to come into the 2026 PJ Fleck RTB Prospect Camp already holding an offer from the hosting Gophers. The ball was coming out of Thurston’s hand differently, and he could generate the most velocity out of anyone in the talented, MN-heavy group of quarterbacks. Additionally, challenging and tight-windowed throws during both drills and 1v1s were of no issue to the Shelby, Michigan native, and the whole route tree was available to Thurston in Dinkytown. Good showing from another Upper Midwest state’s representative on Tuesday night in Minneapolis.

Grayson is extremely interesting to me. In his sophomore season, he put up some really impressive performances and showed flashes of brilliance. He processes the field well, and it’s obvious on film. He anticipates everything and is able to make the right decision quickly and get the ball out. A few of his throws have a great amount of velocity, especially when hitting comebacks and other timing-sensitive routes. His increasing physical ability paired with his overall football IQ makes Grayson a very high ceiling prospect.

- A proven arm and good mechanics. Was a major standout during the 2025 offseason, and gained D1 attention partly based on those offseason performances.
- Showed a ton of flashes this season. Overcame a lot of adversity.
- Improved as the season went on. Got better reading the field quickly, and the game started to slow down for Grayson.
- Good athlete who can, when needed, evade the pocket and run.
- Plays in an elite program facing an elite schedule. Second time around, he’ll perform great.

Grayson was on par with my expectations. He’s an incredibly talented QB, like I’ve always said. At his best, Grayson is able to make any throw with good timing, velocity, and accuracy. Plus, he’s a great athlete who has a chance to be a dual-threat in college.
Yesterday, some of Grayson’s inexperience showed. Primarily, he just needs to continue to get reps and learn from those reps. IQ is not where it needs to be just yet. Too often, Grayson sticks onto his first read. He also looked a bit rushed all game, and threw some dangerous balls. Right now, the game seems a bit fast for Grayson.
Still, he was able to step up and complete some big-time throws. The arm talent is unquestioned. As always, great velocity on his balls, and still above-average accuracy. I absolutely still view Grayson as a Division 1 prospect.

I don’t know if I’ve ever been more confident in an incoming sophomore QB. At least from what I see on HSFB recruiting Twitter, there’s a lot more hype surrounding other Michigan (or even Catholic League) QBs.
I don’t think Grayson is far behind our #1 ranked QB in this class. Grayson is already mechanically sound, excelling in areas where most QBs (even very talented ones) struggle. Of course, excellent mechanics can only improve consistency everywhere else. I’ve seen Grayson complete just about every throw to every area of the field. When he’s got time to set up, he’s incredibly accurate.
On top of that, Grayson is confident, outgoing, and knows what he still needs to work on. Not enough good things I can say about Grayson- sky’s the limit!

- Another phenomenal showing
- Has the size, arm talent, and mechanics to be amongst the best QBs in Michigan
- A couple of very nicely-placed deep balls
- One of the best-looking QBs at a quick glance
- Has MAC offers, could absolutely earn P4 offers with a good season
- Will very likely be De La Salle’s QB1 this season

Grayson is now my QB2 in Michigan, regardless of class.
I only saw maybe half a dozen routes on air reps, but dang was Grayson slinging it. Grayson has a quick, semi-sidearm throwing motion. His lower body is a bit stiff, but still does an awesome job of lining his body up with the throw, staying balanced, and really exaggerating that flick of the wrist. Throws hard, throws confidently, has excellent size. His testing numbers could still improve significantly, though.
A ton of MAC offers for Grayson. He’s a future Power 4 guy in my book.

Grayson is someone I’ve talked about quite a bit already. I am a big believer in his arm talent, and accuracy- at least in an offseason setting. He’s a definite D1 prospect in my book, but his true ceiling should become more clear once he earns varsity starts.
Grayson is easily QB1 – QB3 in this class.

I have no idea if Grayson will start for De La Salle in 2025, but I will say, whenever that day comes, the whole state will be on notice.
Grayson has been a great quarterback since his middle school days. Just turn on the tape. Grayson’s quick release, throw on the run, and deep ball accuracy are extremely promising.
My only question is if Grayson can read a varsity defense. I see a ton of deep balls on film, which is great, but not a ton of short-intermediate reads. As long as Grayson can combine his obvious talent with decent knowledge of reading defenses, he’ll be a breakout Sophomore starter for a State-Championship contender.
