Carson Wright Carson Wright 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Pikeville | 2023 State KY is a player that we had on our radar coming into this season that completely shattered his expectations. He played a huge role in Pikeville’s 1A State Championship run, finishing with 140 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception. Wright does a great job of reading his keys and coming downhill in a hurry against the run. He explodes out of his stance, showing the ability to shoot his gap before the offensive line can react. Wright also has shown the ability to flow to the ball, taking great angles to get to the ball carrier and make tackles in the open field. He is also very reliable in coverage, showing the ability to read routes and break on the ball to catch the interception in stride, returning his one interception for a touchdown. Wright is committed to Kentucky where I can see him eventually developing into a solid role player for their defense.

During Pikeville’s State Championship run, Carson Wright Carson Wright 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Pikeville | 2023 State KY continued to prove that he is one of the best linebackers in the entire state. Wright finished the playoffs with 42 total tackles and six tackles for loss. He does a great job of reading his keys and coming downhill in a hurry. Wright flows well to the ball and puts himself in a position to make a play. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he explodes through contact and doesn’t allow many extra yards to be gained. I also like the motor that he plays with as he has shown the ability to run all over the field to make tackles. Wright currently holds offers from Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Pikeville, and I can see him developing into a very good linebacker at the next level wherever he decides to play

Carson Wright Carson Wright 6'0" | 200 lbs | LB Pikeville | 2023 State KY is a linebacker that I’ve had high on my radar for a while now as he is our seventh ranked linebacker in the class of 2023. Wright has had an impressive senior season so far, sitting at fifth in 1A in total tackles with 1o2 along with 14 tackles for loss, four sacks, and one interception. He is the true leader of Pikeville’s defense and plays with a high football IQ, showing the ability to read the play and react quickly to put himself in a position to make a play. Wright does a great job of flowing to the football and fighting through blocks on his way to the ball carrier. Once he gets to the ball, he does a great job of running his feet through contact to secure the tackle. Carson currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and Pikeville, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more come his way as he has the talent to be a very productive linebacker at the next level.

He has been a key part of two 1A State Championship teams in his time at Pikeville. The biggest thing that sticks out to me when watching Wright is his football IQ. He reads the play very well and reacts quickly to put himself in a good position to make a play. Wright also does a great job of shedding blocks with ease on his way to the ball carrier and is a very good open field tackler. Carson currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky and Pikeville and I expect more to come as he has been receiving a ton of college interest.
