In the first game against Monsignor Farrell, the offensive line had some struggles. This was a major fixing point for Coach Spagnolo, and during the Championship, I think the line player their best game of the season.
Malespin, is a player who I like at Center or Guard, and he held down the line in this matchup. In Pass Protection, the middle of the line was held down, and his hands and leverage were on full display. I liked his ability to counteract moves by the defense, as his footwork, and hand placement always found the blocking points of the D-Line.

Malespin is one of my top guys at the O-Line position in the Catholic League. He played mainly center for the Gaels and had a good performance.
The majority of the runs for the Gaels went through the A-gap, which was in part to the gaps created by Malespin. He had great leverage throughout the game, and showcased elite strength that helped him create gaps.

Malespin is a senior who has been crucial for Iona over the years. He’s the quarterback of an offensive line unit that has dominated in the trenches. His strength immediately stands out—he’s one of the strongest pound-for-pound players on this roster. A great wrestler as well, that physicality translates to the field. He’ll be one of the league’s top linemen.

The second of two Iona Prep lineman, Malespin stands at 6’1″ 280 pounds giving him a good build for a lineman. Moleskin currently holds an offer from Wagner and projects as a Center at the next level.
The Iona Prep captain has good snaps which are accurate and has a good first step. He has solid strength which is showcased on tape. He has solid hand placement and uses the chest plate and his leverage to drive opposing players back and knock them onto the ground. He has good footwork and is always looking for a man to hit.
Malespin and Dinapoli are part of a deadly 1,2 on the Iona Prep line. Both players have good skillsets and can be utilized at the next level.

Malespin was one of the most dominant players at the showcase. Shortly after the event concluded, he received an offer from Wagner. The Iona Prep center was a force in 1-on-1s, using his hands well and showcasing tremendous strength—easily making him one of the strongest players on the field. He was a key part of one of the top offensive line units in the state last season, Malespin is poised to be one of the top centers in New York for the upcoming season.

With the entire camp watching the final rep, it was Malespin coming away with an impressive win over one of the top linemen in New York. Malespin has a quick first step and possesses an extremely strong lower half. His overall strength was on complete display after stonewalling some of the strongest linemen in the city. Malespin is skilled and started on Iona Prep just as a sophomore. He will be the Gaels starting center this fall. He will play a big role for an offense that is loaded. Malespin will also be in attendance at the Prep Redzone camp this weekend.

A really strong spring camp season at the Elite V showcase and the PrepRedzone NY/NJ camp Carlos “CJ” Malespin is a top interior offensive line prospect in this class. He still has room to grow and refine his build and athleticism but there are not many freshman who have the power that Malespin does. His ability to hold his ground, anchor and use his lower body strength to get defensive lineman vertical is impressive. Malespin has some really solid hand usage too where he does a good job of his initial punch and readjusting to gain leverage as he moves.

was dominant in 1v1s. Padless 1v1s always put OL at a disadvantage but you would think after watching his reps that wouldn’t be true. Malespin won about 90% of his reps clearly and showcased an elite anchor and lower body strength. Malespin was very precise with his hands and moves really well keeping his body in good winning positions.
