As I recently wrote about Justin, he’s improved exponentially throughout his career at Providence Day. Justin is an excellent tackler in space and shows an elite ability to blitz the quarterback from depth in passing situations. Justin had a super strong season in helping lead the Chargers to the NCISAA Division 1 State Championship. They will be the favorites to repeat with a strong defense returning. With offers from West Virginia State, Delaware State, Cornell, and a bevy of visits lined up this spring, Justin is starting to see his recruitment move into overdrive.

Justin has been one of my favorite linebackers in Charlotte for a while now, and it’s been a steady improvement for him from a young prospect who has been the most impressive. Every time I see his film, he gets better and better, and I think this past season was the best version of himself that Justin has put on film so far in his career. Justin was selected both All-Conference and All-State this past season and had over 100 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks for the state champion Chargers. The thing that really stands out about Justin on film is his closing speed – whether he is blitzing from depth or tracking a ball carrier in space, Justin gets from his position to where he needs to go in a hurry. And he usually arrives with bad intentions; his tackling is excellent from a fundamentals standpoint.

Justin had another impressive season for Providence Day at the linebacker spot. With 126 tackles this past season, Justin truly showed some sideline to sideline ability on a lot of his plays on his highlight film. Justin showed he has 3 down linebacker potential on the next level, and is starting to see some deserved recruiting interest from multiple college football programs.

Abanquah has been on our watch list for over a year, but we didn’t move him into the rankings until we saw some varsity film. As expected, he did not disappoint, leading a loaded Providence Day defense in tackles and flying around the field. He’s got great closing speed that pops on film.

I’ll admit that I was skeptical when Abanquah made the transition over to Providence Day, but so far this season, he’s been exceptional. Through three games, he’s averaged almost 13 tackles a week and has flashed as a pass rusher as well. The Providence Day defense is loaded with athletes and Abanquah looks like one of the best.

Coming off of a very impressive performance against Weddington where Justin had 21 tackles in an old-school defensive struggle, Justin is looking like he will earn a high ranking in our next update. I’ve been impressed with him since this summer where he showed well at a Johnson C. Smith University Camp. Justin is showing to be extremely physical in stopping the running game and he’s tackling well in space. He has a bright future ahead of him.
