Best Prospects at the South Dakota State Camp 2

To round out PrepRedzone's June tour of the Missouri Valley Conference and as many of the Upper Midwest prospect camps as possible, PRZ made the drive from River Falls post-UWRF MNWI Mega Camp to beautiful Brookings, South Dakota, for the FCS heavyweight Jackrabbits' second & final prospect camp of the summer. South Dakota State, the 2022 and '23 FCS national champs, really know how to put on a well-run high school football prospect camp, and the talent of attendees, level of coaching, drill work and exercises, was amongst the best we've seen in our growing years of scouting and evaluating on the summer camp circuit. The Jacks' began the camp with the OL and DL going to battle in the trenches, then held specialists in-between sessions as more than 800 skill players descended on the First Bank & Trust facilities to finish things out. That's a lot of football players. Landon Harris, a 2027 verified 6'1, 200 lber. LB/DB hybrid & 'tweener who came into South Dakota State's second & final prospect camp of the summer already possessing an offer from the Jackrabbits, was straight-up electric in padded competition and was easily pound-for-pound the baddest prospect in attendance in Brookings. Walking away with LB MVP honor as selected by the Jacks' LB coach Zane Busekist, Harris, especially during 1v1 competition against the LBs, was flat-out dominating RBs, especially as the drill or period got more physical. In 1v1 square-up, alley way, Old School drills versus RBs, Harris was dogging RBs, producing hits so technically-sound, straight-up, physical, and aggressive that it was crumpling RBs at the contact. You could see fear in their eyes as they lined up in anticipation to face this Texas product, and you could see RBs shift positions in line and walk away from reps when the Southlake Carroll LB stepped up. Some of the hits he produced were some of the best hits and collisions I've seen in years, and Harris also displayed a twitchy, dynamic toolkit as a blitzer, as well as comfortability and effectiveness in coverage 1v1. PRZ watched Harris eat the contact from multiple SDSU TE commits off the snap, then shock, shed, and easily win the rep like he beat a blocking sled during practice under a hot Texas sun. Strong, verified athlete who did well during testing as well. Harris and his performance had the Jacks' staff as hyped as I saw them on the day in Brookings. Stephen F. The village of Oswego and the two high schools within its borders always seem to be stocked with scholarship and D1 prep football talent, and Wynn burst in the Missouri Valley recruiting scene due to his performance at the Jacks' second & final prospect camp of the summer, earning an offer from the hosts and committing shortly after. Wynn kicked things off with an elite testing and athletic performance at his size, really placing a spotlight on his upcoming competitive performance later in the camp. Working with the TEs and competing against a talented LB group with a good range and variety of bodies and athleticism, Wynn produced an outstanding performance during blocking exercises, where he showed the strength and physicality to dominate at the point of attack. Wynn was also versatile enough to win 1v1s in reach, offset base, or even pass pro reps, and his bend and explosiveness off the snap as a blocker was as eye-catching as it was effective. One of my notes even had an expletive to pronounce just how aggressively he was beating LBs up. Plus, Wynn was just as effective as a pass catcher, where he proved himself to be a dynamic route runner who could drop his hips and create separation at the top of the route at will. A 6'4, 220 lb. deep threat who was running and winning routes like a wide receiver made for a very fun watch in Brookings from our perspective. Outstanding personal performance from Wynn that paid off and then some from the TE's point of view as well.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/RyanWynn_FB/status/2068044575164223558 </div></figure>    Offense    With around 50 QBs in attendance, the inarguable Alpha Dog of the signal-callers represented at SDSU's second prospect camp of the summer was 2027 Tyler Wollin. A heralded QB prospect out of the Badger State and southwest Wisconsin's Lake Mills High School, Wollin came into the camp with offers from the likes of Winona State. St. Thomas, MSU-Mankato, Drake, Sioux Falls, Bemidji State, and Northern State from 2026. Wollin's noticeable size + poise in the pocket, big arm that can push the ball to all three levels of the field with accuracy, touch, and timing, and his manufacturing of the most consistent & impressive overall body of work in Brookings during the skills session of the Jacks' second camp of the summer, you can see why he's so popular on the recruiting trail.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/TylerWollin/status/2069176683983208483 </div></figure>     With an impressive OL group in attendance for South Dakota State's second prospect camp of the summer, Nebraska's and Omaha North's Ethan Hays walked away with OL MVP honors. A can't-miss and impressive standout from all three phases of Session 1, Hays popped off a 4.89 40 at 250 lbs. (!), not to mention an 8' broad, and he was quick, fluid, and controlled during drill work, displaying overall dynamic movement ability for a lineman of his size. Hays was also a bulldozer during offset base and run blocking, 1v1 competition against DL and fellow OL, and Hays also showed off his light, nimble feet, patient and effective punch, and consistent technique and competitiveness all were highlighted well during 1v1 pass pro/rush reps. This is important context, as I believed the towering, can't-miss OT I was watching was a rising senior, maybe rising sophomore at oldest, However, it was only after the camp's conclusion that I discovered that the verified 6'6 3/4, 251 lber. [player_tooltip player_id='2239230' first='Grant' last='Blomgren'] was a 2029 and a mere rising sophomore despite the gargantuan physical frame. With a 6'8+ wingspan and some noticeable athleticism already present in his game and skillset, Blomgren was just dripping with upside and potential coming out of South Dakota talent-factory Brandon Valley. Up and down day during competition, but when Blomgren could put it all together in terms of his footwork, punch, and body positioning, he was shutting down big, talented, rising senior pass rushers with impressive ease. There's some good bend in Blomgren's game, leading to an effective base, and those long arms already can disrupt a rusher off his mark. Blomgren looks like a future P4 OT in a few recruiting cycles.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/GrantBlomgren64/status/2067859311385010209 </div></figure>     Speaking of South Dakota talent factory Brandon Valley, the Class 11AAA Lynx have a superstar of a 2027 TE in future Jackrabbit [player_tooltip player_id='1617596' first='Austin' last='Dowd']. It's always a special treat to see a D1 commit padded, fully invested, and fully competing at their future college's prospect camp, and Dowd was a no-doubt Top Performer, MVP, insert positive superlative, as he owns top-end size & athleticism and was competing like he was working for the offer as opposed to already committed. His bend, in-real-time coachability, physicality, deep speed during 1v1s, and versatility all stood out in the live evaluation. He was stacking and dusting LBs with ease all day long, and his strong hands could also reel in and finish contested catches in 50/50 settings and in the middle of the field. TEU got a good one here.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/AustinDowd_20/status/2016581254938833143 </div></figure>     A big-time TE find by PRZ out of South Dakota, Bennett County's [player_tooltip player_id='2234694' first='Caysen' last='Soderlin'] is huge sleeper not just in South Dakota's TE class but in the Upper Midwest's 2027 batch of TEs as well. A hulking and verified 6'5+, 220 lbs. and rocking with a 80 1/2 wing, Soderlin has good athleticism backing him up, not to mention a strong multi-sport background coming out of a 9AA program in South Dakota. Soderlin was also noticeably, impressively, and effectively strong during blocking drills and competition, so much so that it had the local college programs in attendance - including the hosting Jackrabbits - noticeably fired up from his performance rep to rep. With his long, rangy frame, Soderlin was producing big-time pop and was impressively strong at the point of attack during 1v1 blocking drills against a talented LB group. After checking the technique, bend, and physicality boxes during padded blocking exercises, Soderlin went right back to work as a route runner and pass catcher during 1v1s. Proving he was a true three-down TE prospect, not to mention a weapon in the pass game. Effective at the top of the route and displaying especially loose hips, Soderlin was a smooth, coordinated, and impressive pass catcher who was creating separation and winning reps in a variety of different settings throughout the whole route tree. If you're familiar with the MN 6A scene at all, it won't come as much of a surprise that this breakout star came out of Farmington High School and specifically, the Tigers' strength and conditioning program. Meet 2027 6', 195 lber. [player_tooltip player_id='2239236' first='Ty' last='Beck'], an explosive WR who walked away with WR MVP honors from the Jacks' second prospect camp of the season. Beck was very productive against a good DB group that descended on Brookings, and he was routinely winning vertically but also doing a good job of showing off his well-rounded route running skillset that was dangerously effective in front of the SDSU coaching staff. 10'3 broad jump manifested in his explosive get-up and acceleration, both off the LOS and out of his breaks, and his athletic ball skills were eye-catching and impressive as well. Plus, Beck could change tempo in his routes and was tracking the deep ball with precision and consistency, which helped, as he was burning just about any and every DB that stepped up to plate in man coverage defense. Beck earned Bemidji State and Black Hills State offers after the SDSU camp, went onto camp at St. Thomas, earn the FCS roster spot, and commit shortly thereafter. Whirlwind couple of weeks for this Farmington Tiger embodying some of the best parts of the Summer Camp SZN.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/TyBeck2027/status/2067775405986107614 </div></figure>     Cedar Rapids' Prairie High School is home to a variety of weapons going into the 2026 season. With some Hog Mollies on the OL, Prairie also has some dudes on the perimeter, namely WR/DB/track star Drew Bennis, who came into the SDSU Jacks' prospect camp #2 with offers from Sioux Falls, Upper Iowa, and St. Thomas. The burner of a wideout also earned an offer from Black Hills State thanks to his camp performance in Brookings, and PRZ loves Bennis' upside when projecting him to the next level. With a strong prep track background with CR Prairie, including being a part of Prairie's 4x400 team that broke Iowa's all-time record at the recent state track meet, Bennis popped off a 4.65 40 at a legit 5'11+, and he was a smooth, explosive route runner who also repped at DB, and repped successfully in man coverage should add. Bennis' ball skills showed up both when working for 50/50 balls as well as when he was working back to the football on stop routes, hitches, and comebacks. A legit 6'2+ with multiple verified 40 times in the 4.4s in June, including in Brookings, Timbrook was running a track meet during 1v1s and was consistently working to beat defensive backs deep and over the top. Definitely raw, which is far from bad, and I didn't see him work the route tree in depth, but there's physical tools that are simply hard to come by, and Missouri skill players always seem to produce well and hit their stride at the next level. Arkansas State and Western Illinois have offered in the last couple of months and you can easily see why. The Valley City, North Dakota product is already having a memorable summer, having earned D1 offer #1 from North Dakota after camping in Grand Forks earlier in the month, and Hunt had another well-rounded showing, especially for his age, at the Jacks' second & final prospect camp of the summer. Primarily reppin' at guard, Hunt was consistent in his technique, owns impressive foot speed and bend at a verified 6'5+, and is physical at the point of the attack and can physically dominate in both run and pass blocking scenarios. Can shut down power rushers well when he can drop that anchor and get his hands on. Great sink in those big hips of his. When he'd lose a rep, which happened only occasionally and generally against the more twitched-up rushers, Hunt would get his get back, adjust, apply the change, and win the next rep against the same kind, sometimes back-to-back at the coaches orders. Anoka stock riser [player_tooltip player_id='2236602' first='Max' last='Langer'], undoubtedly one of the biggest winners of the 2026 Summer Camp SZN out of Minnesota, also happens to be the grandson of Jim Langer, widely regarded as one of the best offensive centers in the history of the NFL. A Little Falls, MN native and South Dakota State Jackrabbit great who played both LB and OL for the Jacks' back in the day, Langer's performance in all three phases of the camp earned an offer from the Jackrabbits yesterday night, an offer that Langer jumped on on the spot. With great size and strength, positional versatility, MN 6A Big School experience, and a refined and balanced pass-rushing game, Langer was a fun watch during 1v1 competition in Brookings. Langer earned wins from both the 5T and 3T positions, displayed strong, active hands, great counters, and the ability to go speed to power very impressively. That first strike could stun OL and lead to separation, which allowed him to counter well, but Langer was also twitched up and powerful, and when he gets some momentum and times up his power game right, Langer can uproot OTs like they're a simple blocking sled. I love the legacy pickup for the Jackrabbits, not to mention Langer's skillset and talent from the DL position. This is why the Summer Camp SZN is the best!   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/MaxLanger99/status/2074622990935785536 </div></figure>     One of the better prospects in attendance of the 600+ SDSU Jackrabbits' second & final prospect camp of the summer in terms of ceiling and collegiate projection came out of the Show-Me State and Liberty High School. 2028 DL/EDGE Gabe Short was a stud during 1v1 pass rush reps, as his explosive get-off, effective hand usage, and ability to unlock his hips and turn the corner smoothly and effective had him making some OTs looking silly. Plus, he owns a great frame to continue to physically develop and add weight, mass, and inches. Lot of star power and a strong verified athlete out of a state where SDSU has historically hit well at; I think it's safe to say that Short placed himself strongly on SDSU's 2028 recruiting board thanks to his camp performance in Brookings.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/GabeShort596051/status/2067782614983823709 </div></figure>     The Defensive Line MVP from the South Dakota State Prospect Camp #2 reps the 402 and Columbus, Nebraska. 2028 DL Payten Andresen told PRZ after the camp that he didn't have a lot of college attention coming into the Jacks' camp. Well, consider that changed, as the 2028 had a fantastic showing in all three phases of the camp and especially during 1v1 pass rush reps. I don't want the reader to think that using the term well-rounded downplays the effectiveness of Andresen's game in Brookings, but that's exactly what he was: well-rounded. The 6'2+, 225 lber. could win with his get-off, his bend, his power, or his quickness, and his twitchy inside move and jab step were capable of beating every OT in attendance to their inside shoulder. Plus, he tested well, highlighted by a 4.6 shuttle and 8'8 broad, and his strength and balance created a powerful base that was finishing rushes on his mark through contact. Linebacker was one of the strongest position groups represented in Brookings for Session 2 of Prospect Camp 2, and even amongst some eye-catchers and filled out upperclassmen, Beswick still earned First Team All-Eye Test honors, as he measured in at a lean, mean 6'3 3/4, 200 lbs. with an 81" wing (almost 6'8") and 9 1/2" hands, monstrous proportions for a rising senior linebacker out of a state stuffed with tradition in prep LB development. After popping off a 4.75 40, 4.50 pro, 9'6 broad, Beswick manufactured a strong and eye-catching performance during both padded block defeat drills and 1v1 pass coverage against RBs. With physicality and length aiding him in all phases and scenarios the Jacks' prospect camp had to offer, Beswick was disruptive at the catch point in man coverage, and his fluid change of direction ability was an asset in coverage as well. I saw Beswick generate some serious pop and force at the point of attack as well, both in coverage and block defeat drills, and it was easy to see why this Iowa product came into camp with offers from MSU-Mankato, Sioux Falls, and Upper Iowa coming into the camp.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/Pauly_Beswick/status/2070991122227245503 </div></figure>       It's almost unfair how rich in talent Moorhead High School is right now. One of Minnesota's biggest winners from the 2026 Summer Camp SZN comes out of the Spuds' LB room, and this 'backer is a monster, to put it lightly. Measuring in at a verified 6'1+, 220 lbs. and rocking an 80" wing and 9 1/8" hands, Dinukar popped off a 4.58 40 to highlight his strong athletic showing during testing. Strong and physical at the point of attack, not to mention quick, bendy, and explosive, Dinukar legitimately played man coverage like a defensive back despite the impressive stature, and his linebackerness showed up when he was able to implement and time up his defensive catch technique when a TE or RB hit the top of the route. Dinukar was also getting out of his breaks like a defensive back, showed the eye discipline, ability to swivel and unlock his hips, contest at the catch point with timing and technique, timing and effectiveness when undercutting a route, and overall comfortability in man coverage were reminiscent of an XL safety as opposed to an off-ball linebacker. With a North Dakota offer already under his belt going into his junior year with the 6A Spuds, it's hard not to think Dinukar has legit P4 potential in his collegiate projection.   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepredzone.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2026/07/Aaron-Dinukar-Moorhead-2028-LB.jpg?w=768" alt="" class="wp-image-2242960"/><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">[player_tooltip player_id='2239234' first='Aaron' last='Dinukar'] - Moorhead 2028 LB</figcaption></figure>     Your DB MVP from the South Dakota Jackrabbits second & final prospect camp of the summer of 2026 comes out of Lawrence, Kansas, Lawrence High School, and the Chesty Lions' 2027 stud DB Ethan Curry. After popping off a 4.63 40, 4.38 pro, and 9'4 broad jump during testing, Curry was physical and stepped up to the challenge in the toughness, block defeat, and 1v1 tackling departments while padded up in Brookings, and he was absolutely lock down during 1v1 pass defense reps against WRs. Twitchy short-area quickness and movement ability, very balanced and rarely got himself in an overextended or disadvantageous body position, great eye discipline, and the top-end speed to stay on top of even of the most explosive WRs going vertical were a fun watch during 1v1s. Also had loose hips and is a true man-coverage CB projection to the next level. Earned offers from Sioux Falls, Minot State, Black Hills State, Bemidji State thanks to his performance at SDSU.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/ethan_curry3/status/2067800390460997666 </div></figure>     A heavy hitting, Top 5 defensive back out of the Badger State and a powerhouse talent-factory Catholic Memorial program came to play in Brookings at SDSU's second & final prospect camp of the summer. Zy'aire Smith was a top competitor in every facet of the camp, as he tested well to open the camp up, was twitchy during drill work, and really put together a strong showing during 1v1 pass coverage work against WRs. Owning the competitive and confident makeup you want to see from a true man coverage specialist, Smith was simultaneously comfortable, quick, balanced, and physical in press-man coverage, and his aggressiveness paid off in 1v1s, sometimes even before the snap. In addition to his great press, Smith showed sticky COD ability, explosive vertical speed that could stay on top of the WR group in attendance, ball tracking ability and comfortability when playing the ball in the third level of the field, and effective hand usage in his press and at the catch point. Made some great anticipatory reads throughout the 1v1 session and always played through the whistle and finished reps emphatically. Impressive overall stick & plant ability. The Huskies' football & track star measured in at 6'1, 177 lbs. with a 74" wingspan and 9 3/8 hands, and he popped off a 4.69 40, 4.43 pro, and 8'10 broad to add to his 11.09 100M and 22.93 200M from this past outdoor track & field season. Chenoweth possesses great size and length for the perimeter, and his hips and footwork were more than up to par during drill work and indy, especially in his ability to speed turn and cross over. During 1v1s, Chenoweth was dominating the second group of WRs so much so that the SDSU staff bumped Chenoweth up to the Big Dog group, and his press was impressively effective, earning him a ton of wins right at the snap and LOS. A soon-to-be stock riser in the MN 2027 Big Board, Tamukong was a no-doubt Top Performer from the DB position at SDSU's second & final prospect camp of the summer. Tamukong's athleticism allows him to play with impressive patience, anticipation, and quickness, and he was absolutely lock down on a variety of different routes from a very talented WR group that descended on Brookings. Had a particularly strong rep against Cretin-Derham Hall and fellow Minnesotan WR [player_tooltip player_id='1326439' first='Owen' last='Welk'], who ran a 4.56 40 at the camp, was right in hip pocket on a post, maybe dig route towards the MOF. It spoke to Tamukong's ability to sit on the ball effectively, stick & plant, and predict a WR's route in real time.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/NdiforTamukong/status/2055055642390372475 </div></figure>     Rock Bridge, Missouri's Bookee Kritza was easily one of heavy hitters at the Jackrabbits' second & final prospect camp of the summer. The Show-Me State eye-catcher, with his long, rangy, and aggressive play style and competitive makeup, came into the camp with offers from not only on the hosting Jackrabbits, but the likes of Missouri State, Lindenwood, Arkansas State, NW Missouri State, SEMO, Western Illinois, and Illinois. This placed Kritza in the rare position of looking to finalize a home with his host's prospect camp as opposed to earning the offer. With a plethora of Jackrabbits' coaches following his every movement and cut, Kritza owned explosive COD ability, a ton of acceleration out of each and every break, and great top-end speed at his verified size. Kritza ran with both the LB and DB groups, and he was a big-time hammer during alley way, 1v1 physicality drills versus RBs in a high-pressure goal-line setting. Held up more than well when shocking, shedding, and block defeating against a loaded TE at SDSU's second camp of the summer, with strong hands and the ability to extend, lock out, and create separation against would-be blockers. All the traits of a future big-time LB at the next level. Unfortunately, on July 4th, Kritza announced his commitment to Lindenwood University to play FCS ball in Missouri at the next level. Take a look at that embedded tweet below. Addy doesn't have any social media or even a cell phone, so if you're a college coach I'd recommend hunting down his head coach Travis White's phone number at Tipton. I promise you, the work for the digits is worth it, as Addy, who measured in at 6'3+, 204 lbs. with a 79" wing and 9 3/4 hand, kicked off his camp performance by popping off a 4.40 40, 4.65 shuttle, 9'4 broad. His explosive get-off, natural yet uncontained bend, and ability to threaten and beat OTs to either shoulder earned him some impressive 1v1s during pass rushing drills at the Jacks' camp against a good and experienced group of Big School OTs from a variety of Midwest states competing in Brookings. To round out PrepRedzone's June tour of the Missouri Valley Conference and as many of the Upper Midwest prospect camps as possible, PRZ made the drive from River Falls post-UWRF MNWI Mega Camp to beautiful Brookings, South Dakota, for the FCS heavyweight Jackrabbits' second & final prospect camp of the summer. South Dakota State, the 2022 and '23 FCS national champs, really know how to put on a well-run high school football prospect camp, and the talent of attendees, level of coaching, drill work and exercises, was amongst the best we've seen in our growing years of scouting and evaluating on the summer camp circuit. The Jacks' began the camp with the OL and DL going to battle in the trenches, then held specialists in-between sessions as more than 800 skill players descended on the First Bank & Trust facilities to finish things out.
