Landon brings a strong presence to the Dragons’ secondary with his ability to consistently make plays and impact the game. He has earned a reputation as a tackling machine, showing great instincts when coming downhill and the ability to finish plays in space. Landon does a great job reading the action in front of him, taking smart angles to the football, and putting himself in position to make a difference.

My first time scouting a Southlake Carroll prospect live, padded, and in person did not disappoint. Landon Harris, a 2027 verified 6’1, 200 lber. LB/DB hybrid & ‘tweener who came into South Dakota State’s second & final prospect camp of the summer already possessing an offer from the Jackrabbits, was straight-up electric in padded competition and was easily pound-for-pound the baddest prospect in attendance in Brookings. Walking away with LB MVP honor as selected by the Jacks’ LB coach Zane Busekist, Harris, especially during 1v1 competition against the LBs, was flat-out dominating RBs, especially as the drill or period got more physical. In 1v1 square-up, alley way, Old School drills versus RBs, Harris was dogging RBs, producing hits so technically-sound, straight-up, physical, and aggressive that it was crumpling RBs at the contact. You could see fear in their eyes as they lined up in anticipation to face this Texas product, and you could see RBs shift positions in line and walk away from reps when the Southlake Carroll LB stepped up. Some of the hits he produced were some of the best hits and collisions I’ve seen in years, and Harris also displayed a twitchy, dynamic toolkit as a blitzer, as well as comfortability and effectiveness in coverage 1v1. PRZ watched Harris eat the contact from multiple SDSU TE commits off the snap, then shock, shed, and easily win the rep like he beat a blocking sled during practice under a hot Texas sun. Strong, verified athlete who did well during testing as well. Harris and his performance had the Jacks’ staff as hyped as I saw them on the day in Brookings. Stephen F. Austin, Richmond, UTEP, Northern Arizona, SE Oklahoma State, Northeastern State all involved right now as well.

Harris plays with a smooth, confident tempo that stands out on film. He’s disciplined in his alignment and understands how to use spacing to his advantage, rarely getting caught out of position. In man coverage, he stays light on his feet and mirrors well through the stem, showing the ability to stay in phase without grabbing. His awareness in zone concepts is impressive he keeps vision on the quarterback while feeling routes develop behind him. Harris shows strong hands at the catch point and doesn’t just defend passes he looks to create takeaways. He’s also dependable in open-field situations, breaking down under control and finishing tackles cleanly. Harris brings reliability and playmaking ability to the secondary.
