There's no doubt that Oklahoma's 2027 class is arguably the best class of talent that we've seen in the last decade. And we've seen a flurry of top prospects committing in the last two weeks alone. Since June 1st, [player_tooltip player_id='1530058' first='Ben' last='Kolar'] (Stanford) [player_tooltip player_id='693998' first='Braxton' last='Daniel'] (Utah) [player_tooltip player_id='1171162' first='Cadriann' last='Olds'] (Baylor) [player_tooltip player_id='1343433' first='Cash' last='Worley'] (Texas State) [player_tooltip player_id='1829899' first='Gabriel' last='Osborne'] (Oklahoma) [player_tooltip player_id='891992' first='Kason' last='Delgado'] (Louisiana Monroe) [player_tooltip player_id='485526' first='Noah' last='Gillespie'] (TCU) and [player_tooltip player_id='1307135' first='Noah' last='Smith'] (Oklahoma) have all announced commitments to D1 programs.

Looking at the current PRZ-Oklahoma 2027 rankings, 16 of the top 20 ranked players in the class have already announced commitments. Although, we will say that it will actually be 15 of the top 20 as there is a former Oklahoma HS standout coming to the state this summer and he's uncommitted. When the next ranking update happens, he'll be right back in the top 20, if not top 10.

In this breakdown, we're looking at the top five available prospects in the state's class. Some might be off the board very soon.

[player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] - Linebacker - Washington

Washington linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='473879' first='Case' last='Alexander'] is the top available prospect in the state's 2027 class but he might not be for very long. Alexander looks like he's narrowed his choices down to Oklahoma and Penn State. By the end of June, he will have had official visits at both spots and could be closing in on a decision following the visits. The connection to Oklahoma is an obvious one. Penn State is interesting because of the familiarity with new head coach Matt Campbell. When Campbell was at Iowa State, the Cyclones signed Case's older brother Cooper out of high school. Don't be surprised if a commitment comes in the next few weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1176238' first='Israel' last='Hammons'] - Athlete - Choctaw

It looks like Choctaw standout [player_tooltip player_id='1176238' first='Israel' last='Hammons'] is settling in on the defensive side of the ball for the next level. Early in his career, Hammons played multiple positions on both sides of the ball and even helped out in special teams. But it looks like he's fitting in nicely at linebacker and college coaches have definitely noticed. Hammons joins Alexander as the only top ten overall prospects in the 2027 class that are still available. And similar to Alexander, Hammons could be getting closer and closer to making a decision. It looks like Oklahoma State is the leader to land Hammons but we can't count out Texas as a potential landing spot.

[player_tooltip player_id='1171159' first='Kyng' last='Golston'] - Defensive Lineman - Broken Bow

Broken Bow defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1171159' first='Kyng' last='Golston'] joins Alexander and Hammons as dominant defensive standouts that still is on the board. Golston recently moved from Valliant to Broken Bow and he's a big reason why the Savages could end up being the favorites to win the 4A title. Golston has been offered by quite a few schools and it's hard to gauge who is the leader in the clubhouse. We would look out for Arkansas as a potential frontrunner to land Golston. But don't overlook some Big 12 programs. It should also be mentioned that his older brother, 2026 running back Kenny Golston signed with Idaho.

[player_tooltip player_id='693905' first='Delijah' last='Matthews'] - Running Back - Carl Albert

Carl Albert running back [player_tooltip player_id='693905' first='Delijah' last='Matthews'] enjoyed a breakout junior season, emerging as one of the top overall players in the state. So it's not surprising that Matthews is one of the top available prospects in the state's 2027 class. Matthews had some interest going into his junior season but that interest (and offers) absolutely blew up following his junior season, where he ran for more than 40 touchdowns on the year. Matthews has double digit offers and it will be interesting to see what his timetable is on making a decision. He's been somewhat limited this offseason from a camp perspective because of an injury but when healthy, he's the top guy in the RB class.

[player_tooltip player_id='523223' first='Gage' last='Gibbons'] - Wide Receiver - Deer Creek

Deer Creek wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='523223' first='Gage' last='Gibbons'] is continuing to pull in offers and has had a very busy offseason. He's taken visits and camped at various schools. He's continued that this summer and was also a standout on the track. Gibbons has legitimate speed and he's definitely opened up some eyes this offseason when it comes to his potential as a college prospect. Gibbons should end up getting a few more offers and will have a decision to make eventually. We still think his best football is ahead of him when you look at his legitimate track times and the work ethic he has. Combine that with a college weight room and he could blow up at the next level.
