I'm excited to announce the PRZNE 2028 Winter Rankings Update, featuring over 200 sophomore prospects. We added nearly 100 new prospects total and saw our rankings list grow from a preseason Top 25 last summer to 115 ranked players in this round.

My biggest takeaway from watching film and evaluating this class is that there are a ton of hidden gems in this group and some that could breakout as early as this spring. The biggest standouts at the moment come from the trenches with a strong group of offensive and defensive linemen. I was also very impressed with the defensive backs, with four true DBs in the top 20. The QBs are an athletic bunch, which should be fun to watch in the upcoming seasons. Omaha Westside should be set for the next few seasons as they had the most players within the top 20, with four.

Defensive tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1590728' first='Micah' last='Santiago'] entered his sophomore season with a ton of momentum after receiving an offer from Iowa State, and showed everyone why he was already receiving Power 4 attention. The 6'2", 300-pound defensive tackle was a thorn in opposing offenses' sides all season long with his ability to stuff inside runs and help collapse the pocket to apply QB pressure. Micah will be wearing new threads next fall after transferring from Bellevue West to Omaha Westside. Since receiving his first offer, Micah has already received bids from Florida State and Kansas State.

This class looks very deep in offensive linemen, as there are already three listed in the updated top five. Right behind Micah is his teammate, [player_tooltip player_id='1581454' first='Justin' last='Parish Jr'], who checks in as the #2 prospect in the update. Justin had a stellar sophomore season, stepping in nicely as a first-time starter (RT) and helping the Warriors rush for nearly 2,500 yards and 33 touchdowns. Parish has already earned offers from Washington State and Kansas. Elkhorn's [player_tooltip player_id='1573578' first='Eli' last='Betz'] lands at #3 as he continued to display his elite blend of size and athleticism to help hold down the Antlers' left tackle position. Malcolm's [player_tooltip player_id='2118763' first='Gerrit' last='Dewaard'] was a huge addition to the last update as he made the second biggest introduction, debuting at #5 overall. Dewaard is a towering offensive lineman (6'8") who brings a nasty streak to the field.

Elkhorn North's [player_tooltip player_id='1591394' first='Drew' last='Meyer'] is the sole skill position player in the top five after a breakout campaign as a sophomore. Meyer quickly became a reliable target in the Wolves' offense this season and ended the year as the team's leading receiver with 35 catches, 644 yards, and eight touchdowns. Meyer is a lengthy, big-bodied receiver who can be your jump ball receiver on the outside or use his athleticism to beat defenders in a flex TE role.

The rest of the new Top 15 includes; TE/EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1573580' first='Paul' last='Hart'] (#6), LB/OL [player_tooltip player_id='1590682' first='Carter' last='Hiatt'] (#7), TE [player_tooltip player_id='1590732' first='Riley' last='Swim'] (#8), DB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1577986' first='Aisaiah' last='Bollen'] (#9), ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1590700' first='Yasir' last='Grixby'] (#10), OL [player_tooltip player_id='1643739' first='Tatum' last='Wash'] (#11), DB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1581452' first='Hunter' last='Conkey'] (#12), DL [player_tooltip player_id='1581447' first='Cooper' last='Fix'] (#13), DL [player_tooltip player_id='1590726' first='Gavin' last='Trapp'] (#14), and DB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1591351' first='Micah' last='Benning'] (#15).

Quick note: If you do not see yourself on the rankings or watchlist, do not take this as a slight to you as a player. We try very hard to include as many prospects as possible, but we sometimes miss some when going through an entire state. Also, these lists are fluid and not set in stone, so there is always a chance to improve and move up in the rankings. Most of the time, a lack of film will likely be the reason a player is left off, making it important to have a tape of your previous season available on your Hudl (and that's for college coaches, not just for us to evaluate).
