If I could make a list of players whom I would give their first D1 offer to today, Elkhorn’s Eli Betz Eli Betz 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Elkhorn | 2028 State NE would definitely be near the top of that list. Eli quickly became a seasoned veteran on the Antlers’ offensive line, as he’s set to be a three-year starter going into his junior season with experience at left and right tackle. Eli is a player who passes the eye test immediately at a towering 6’7″ and 280 pounds, with room to continue adding bulk, and has solid length to his frame. On film, I was impressed by how mobile and quick he is on his feet for his size, showing he can climb to the second level to clear out LBs and hit like a runaway train on pulling plays. Betz flashes a powerful punch at the point of attack, with great pop in his heavy hands and the ability to work them inside to gain leverage. On top of solid athleticism, Eli also displays the power to drive defenders off the ball and a mean streak to finish blocks in the dirt. Schools have started to take notice, now it’s just a waiting game for that first offer to come in!

Elkhorn’s Eli Betz Eli Betz 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Elkhorn | 2028 State NE holds on to the top overall spot in this update after posting great freshman tape and continuing that momentum with a strong track (shot put) season. Eli is a towering offensive tackle at 6’7″, 280 pounds who catches your eye with his combination of size, mobility, power, and technique. Eli moves extremely well for his size, displaying natural footwork and the ability to execute pulling blocks with ease or climb to the second level to seal off LBs. He uses his leverage effectively and gains additional leverage through his smart hand placement when engaging with blockers. Smooth lateral mobility, especially in pass protection, where he cleanly progressed through his pass sets and could mirror defenders moving across the LOS. Betz also does a good job using his length to tame pass rushers by keeping them within his reach and not allowing them to beat him wide or cut inside. Good hip bend and consistent pad level through his reps. Eli has all the tools to develop into a national prospect and go wire-to-wire as #1!

Elkhorn’s Eli Betz Eli Betz 6'6" | 280 lbs | OL Elkhorn | 2028 State NE , who opened many eyes after earning the starting right tackle position, claims the top spot in the initial 2028 rankings. At 6’6″ and 280 pounds, Eli already has a frame that will draw tons of attention from high-level programs. What catches my attention about Eli is that, along with his next-level size, he also possesses great athleticism, which goes from his footwork to his ability to reach second-level defenders. He plays with a solid mean streak that drives him to be aggressive at the point of attack and to finish blocks in the dirt. He has strong hands and a great understanding of winning inside leverage against his opponent. Lots of potential with P4 upside.
