Monsignor Farrell Vs Iona Prep-October 17th

This is my top remaining matchup in the Catholic League. Iona Prep is clearly the number one team in the state, but Monsignor Farrell, has been putting together a solid campaign behind Coach RDP. The Gaels are undefeated this season, and are dubbed the best team in New York, with wins over Somers, Paramus Catholic, Cardinal Hayes, St. Anthony's, and Chaminade this season. This upcoming game against Monsignor Farrell, is the latest test for the Gaels and Coach Joe Spagnolo. On the Monsignor Farrell sideline, the Lions sit at 5-1 on the season, and are legit competitors in the Catholic League this season. Monsignor Farrell picked up a loss in a NY Vs NJ matchup against Delbarton, but has padded their resume with wins over CBA-Albany, St. Peter's, South Shore, and St. Anthony's. This is my top remaining matchup left this season. With that being said, lets look at some matchups in this game I'm watching.

Guzman Vs Moye: Senior QB Vs Young Sophomore. This matchup features my top QB's in the entire Catholic League regardless of Class, and I will be looking at everything surrounding this QB Battle.

WR Core: [player_tooltip player_id='402261' first='Eric' last='Pirrello'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1624499' first='Joe' last='Wolf'] Vs [player_tooltip player_id='1278754' first='Braxton' last='Moye'], and [player_tooltip player_id='277164' first='Gianni' last='Pasqualone']. Both WR's cores are outstanding, and have lifted both QB's to success this season. I will be watching these star pass catchers, and how they navigate around a tough opponent.

Iona Prep Defense: While the scoreboard might not show their might, the Gaels have dawgs on their defense. Guys like [player_tooltip player_id='741083' first='Joshua' last='Simmons'], [player_tooltip player_id='741084' first='Lamar' last='Lewis'], [player_tooltip player_id='600090' first='Dalton' last='Lozin'], [player_tooltip player_id='741078' first='Mamadee' last='Sangaray'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1365123' first='Zander' last='Poole'] are outstanding playmakers, and guys who fear me lining up opposite of them.

Chaminade Vs Cardinal Hayes-October 24th

Chaminade Vs Cardinal Hayes is set to kickoff in two weeks. This Catholic League matchup, will see two teams fighting for seeding in their league as we near the playoffs. Chaminade sits at 4-3 on the year, and 1-1 against Catholic League opponents. The Flyers opened the season against La Salle Academy, where the Rhode Island Rams got the better of them in a 28-27 win. Chaminade bounced back big time, as they picked up three straight wins against Randolph Campus, Seton Hall Prep, in an NJ Vs NY battle, and Archbishop Stepinac in a 2-OT thriller. The past three weeks have been rocky, as the lost to St. Peter's, and Iona Prep, but picked up a win against St. Francis Prep. This week the Flyers face off against St. Anthony's in a major test before their matchup against Cardinal Hayes. The Cardinals have had a rough 2025, sitting 1-4. After beating SJCI, in Albany the Cardinals faced four straight loses against St. Joseph Regional, Iona Prep, Archbishop Stepinac, and St. Anthony's. The Cardinals matchup with St. Peter's this week, and look to get back on track before their matchup against Chaminade next week.

QB Play: [player_tooltip player_id='1649268' first='Kyle' last='Mercorelli'] is back for Cardinal Hayes, and he will face upcoming QB [player_tooltip player_id='939944' first='Sean' last='Carnevale']. I like both QB's and I can't wait to see which playmaker controls this game for his team.

0-Line: Cardinal Hayes has a solid O-line with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='402253' first='Ali' last='Farhat'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1364876' first='Alyjah' last='Lozada']. Giving the QB time to throw against a good Flyers Defense with guys like [player_tooltip player_id='1513245' first='Anthony' last='Trapani'], will be an X-Factor for this game.

WR's: [player_tooltip player_id='1649146' first='Michael' last='Genovese'], and [player_tooltip player_id='606305' first='Sean' last='Powers'] lead Chaminade, while Erik Drobnak, and [player_tooltip player_id='1814209' first='Saleh' last='Atariwa'] lead Cardinal Hayes. Who will get more separation, and give their team big gains?

St. Anthony's Vs Archbishop Stepinac-October 25th

Entering this game, both teams are having up/down seasons. Starting with St. Anthony's, the Friars sit at 3-4, and 1-2 in Catholic League play. McDonough, and Don Bosco, won in out of state matchups, against the Friars in the early part of the season. With a win against University Prep, and Kellenburg Memorial, the Friars moved to 2-2 on the year. Monsignor Farrell took home the Week Five victory in a 21-20 shootout, and Iona Prep exploded in the 4th Quarter for a 50-36 victory moving the Friars to 2-4. St. Anthony's bounced back last week, with a big win against Cardinal Hayes 42-14, moving them to 3-4 on the year. Three straight away games await the Friars, with a matchup at Chaminade this week before the Friars and Crusaders face off. Coach Magee and the Crusaders finished 1-10 last year, and sit at 5-2 on the year. After opening up the year with wins against Lincoln, and Central Catholic (MA), Chaminade, and DePaul Catholic moved them to 2-2. Three straight wins have come for the Crusaders, with one score wins over St. Joseph By the Sea, Cardinal Hayes, and Xavier. A matchup Vs Kellenberg Memorial awaits the Crusaders before they take on St. Anthony's in their second to last game of the 2025 regular season.

Bala Vs All: [player_tooltip player_id='425629' first='Xavier' last='Bala'] is the best Catholic League RB, and as a Junior he has torn up his competition. [player_tooltip player_id='1345061' first='Elias' last='Murray'], [player_tooltip player_id='820269' first='Eddie' last='Keeler'], and [player_tooltip player_id='819994' first='Ka'Mauri' last='Guinyard'] create a Strong D-Line. I am curious to watch how Bala handles one of his toughest defenses this season.

QB Play: Both teams rely on the running game, making the passing game and the QB's involvement in this game extremely important. St. Anthony's will rely on Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1630235' first='Anthony' last='Diieso'], while Archbishop Stepinac will use [player_tooltip player_id='1364040' first='Jahmai' last='McNeil'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1642284' first='Grayer' last='Hong']. I am intrigued on how all three play as they can control this game.
