The time has finally come, Week 1 of the 2025 high school football season is officially here! With this in mind, I wanted to highlight the top players in each class in the state of Kentucky with my Preseason All-State Teams. After already covering class 6A, I will be turning my attention to class 5A, starting with the offensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='283958' first='Cam' last='O'Hara'] has established himself as the clear top quarterback in the entire state. He is coming off another very impressive season in which he threw for over 3,600 yards and 52 touchdown with only three interceptions. O'Hara has elite arm talent, with the arm strength to stretch the field and touch to put the ball wherever he wants to. He has also shown impressive poise under pressure, showing the ability to move around the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field to find the open receiver. Cam also scored four rushing touchdowns as a junior. O'Hara is committed to Western Kentucky where I can see him being their quarterback of the future once he gets there.

[player_tooltip player_id='401707' first='Evan' last='Hampton'] is one of the top returning players in the state, regardless of class. He is coming off a strong junior year in which he rushed for over 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns. Hampton has explosive speed which he uses to burst through the running lane with a sense of urgency and break away on long runs at any given moment. He also has the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field. Hampton has also proven to be a reliable target in the passing game, catching 15 passes for 107 yards and four touchdowns last season. Evan is committed to Vanderbilt where I can see him being a very productive back at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200641' first='Timmy' last='Emongo'] is one of the most electric playmakers in the state. He does most of his damage out of the backfield where he is very shifty, using quick cuts in the open field to make defenders miss with ease. Emongo also has the breakaway speed to run away from the defense on long runs. He finished his sophomore year with over 500 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Emongo also caught six passes for 167 yards and a touchdown, and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns last season. He will also look to continue to make an impact on defense after finishing his sophomore year with two interceptions. Emongo currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Kent State, and Miami (OH), and I expect more to come his way over the next couple seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='212337' first='Trevy' last='Barber'] is a player who has been high on my radar for a while now. He had an outstanding junior year, catching 79 passes for over 1,300 yards and 22 touchdowns. Barber is one of the best route runners in the state, using quick breaks in his routes to create separation with ease. He has also shown the speed to pose as a threat in the deep passing game and pick up yards after the catch. Barber has also proven to be dangerous on special teams as a returner, returning one kickoff for a touchdown last season. Trevy currently holds offers from Gardner Webb, Eastern Kentucky, Troy, Austin Peay State, Miami (OH), and Indianapolis, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber prospect.

He has also shown the ability to use smooth breaks in his routes to create separation. Aiden also scored one rushing touchdown, and returned one punt and a kickoff return for touchdowns last season. He has also shown the speed and elusiveness in the open field of pick up yards after the catch. Larron will also look to continue to make an impact on defense at safety this season. He runs routes like a receiver, showing the ability to use breaks in his routes to create separation. Byrd has also shown the speed to pose as a dangerous deep threat. He also scored one rushing touchdown last season and made an impact on defense, finishing the year with 53 tackles, four tackles for loss, and five interceptions. He has also shown the ability to pull from the tackle spot and destroy and defender in his path as a lead blocker. Brady has also shown the versatility to play inside if asked to do so.
