For the third straight season, Broken Arrow finished the year with a losing record and for the second straight year, the Tigers were out of the playoffs following the first round. It was an up and down year for the Tigers and going into the season, it looked like they could have bounced back from a 3-8 record in 2023. Broken Arrow brought back the majority of their starters but they would start the year 1-3 and lost two games to Fayetteville and Mustang in back to back weeks by seven points or less. They would bounce back from the 1-3 start with back to back wins. But the Tigers would lose three straight games to enter week ten and face a “win and you're in” scenario against Westmoore. The Tigers responded with a 49-14 victory to punch their ticket to the postseason. However, the Tigers would get bounced out in the first round the following week, losing 21-19 to Deer Creek. Despite outgaining the Antlers by well over 200 yards, they came up short on the scoreboard and the season came to an end with a 4-7 record. Ultimately, the 2024 season was a forgettable one. They had some fireworks on offense, averaging over 30 points per game but the defense gave up nearly 37 points per game and the Tigers couldn't overcome costly penalties in turnovers in some of those close games. Shortly after the season, head coach Josh Blankenship and the Tigers parted ways and Broken Arrow would be searching for a new head coach.

2025 OUTLOOK

In early December, Broken Arrow hired Travis Hill to be the next head football coach of the Tigers. As soon as that coaching search began, Hill was the number one target and the Tigers would get their guy. Despite going 7-15 in the last two seasons, Broken Arrow looks like a team and a program that can be turned around right away and Hill has been appointed as the guy to lead that turnaround. The Tigers bring back almost everyone on the offensive side of the ball and this offense could end up being one of the highest scoring and balanced units in the state this fall. Defensively, the Tigers also bring back a strong amount of talent but there's no doubt that they grabbed headlines this offseason when two of the top 2027 defensive back prospects in the country, not just the state, moved in from other Tulsa county high schools. On paper, this roster has the talent and ability to not only surprise some people but they could turn into a contender instantly. The coaching staff got a major overhaul this offseason and the Tigers have been hard at work, looking to live up to all the hype that has surrounded them this offseason. This is still a program that is coming off three straight losing seasons and you have to break some bad habits to turn that program into a winner again. The schedule is a challenging one but Broken Arrow comes into this season firmly as a top five team in Class 6A-1 and they are certainly a major contender to capture the district championship. But the slogan around Broken Arrow football this offseason has been “Gold Blooded” so they aren't just thinking district championships. They're thinking about that gold ball that they award the state champion in December.

2027 cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='521089' first='Bryson' last='Brown'] joined the Tigers in late April and immediately gave a boost to the Broken Arrow secondary. Brown is one of the top overall prospects in the state's 2027 class and the list of D1 offers that Brown has received continues to get longer and longer. We've had a chance to watch Brown up close and in person a handful of times this offseason and we can see where the hype is coming from. He has the ability to lockdown his side of the field and the upside moving forward is incredibly high. When you look at the talent that Broken Arrow will have specifically in the secondary this season, it's hard to imagine many teams having success throwing the ball on the Tigers.

Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='402376' first='Jeramiah' last='Ssettimba'] will be going into his second season as QB1 of the Tigers this fall. Last year, Ssetimba enjoyed a breakout season. He threw for over 2,400 yards and 23 touchdowns while completing 66 percent of his passes. The Broken Arrow signal caller also added nearly 300 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. This spring, Ssettimba was in a battle to keep his role as QB1 and would come out on top. And when you look at this Broken Arrow offense, there is no doubt that he's going to have some outstanding weapons around him. From a solid offensive line to what feels like endless playmakers at the skill positions, Ssettimba could be primed for a monster 2025 season.

We mentioned that stout offensive line that will be paving the way for the Broken Arrow offense. Leading the way for the offensive line is senior and Kansas commit [player_tooltip player_id='1304600' first='Kaden' last='Moody'] and he's emerged as a punishing blocker on a unit that has the potential to be one of the better position groups in Class 6A-1. In early April, Moody would commit to Kansas and has remained loyal to the Jayhawks ever since. This Broken Arrow offensive line has a ton of talent and potential when you look at some of the young guys coming up. Moody is an experienced starter that is going to not only be able to pave the way for the Broken Arrow offense this fall, but he's also going to set the standard for the guys coming up through the program.

Junior running back [player_tooltip player_id='649663' first='Octavian' last='Roberson'] was one of the more underrated playmakers in Class 6A-1 last season. We knew that Roberson was going to have the potential of a big season at running back but what we didn't expect was the overall offensive production he had in 2024. Roberson would lead the Tigers with over 1,000 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns. But he was also a threat out of the backfield in the passing game. He finished with 340 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. As we look ahead to the 2025 season, Roberson is going to give Broken Arrow another versatile weapon on offense. He won't be the only running back making an impact but he's definitely a player to watch.

A week after Brown announced he was moving to Broken Arrow, fellow junior [player_tooltip player_id='478124' first='Semaj' last='Stanford'] would also announce an upcoming move to BA. Stanford has been one of the best overall players in the state since his freshman year. Now, he joins a Broken Arrow defense and if the Tigers need him at any point, he has the potential to be a game-changing athlete on the offensive side of the ball. Stanford was our Freshman Of The Year selection following the 2023 season and he's only continued to develop in the last year. He's had a stranglehold on the number 1 position for the state's 2027 class and shows no signs of letting that go. He was certainly a big addition for Broken Arrow.

Senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='402385' first='Tayshawn' last='Wade'] would reach new heights last season, becoming Broken Arrow's top weapon at the wide receiver position. He would finish his junior season with 51 catches for just over 800 yards and eight touchdowns. He led the Tigers in receiving yards and touchdowns. He has had a very strong offseason and when we caught the Tigers in person this spring, he looked like a player that will be the top pass-catching threat downfield for Broken Arrow this fall. He has good size and the overall playmaking ability is outstanding. While the Tigers have quite a few options at the position, it won't be surprising for the BA senior to be the unchallenged leader in every receiving category.

The Tigers got another move in boost when quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='428958' first='Titan' last='Hix'] joined Broken Arrow after two seasons at Locust Grove. Hix will not only have a new team but he'll be moving positions. Despite being a very successful quarterback over the last three years, Hix is moving to tight end and he brings that physicality to a position that demands it. Hix has a strong arm but he's also been just as dangerous when he tucks the ball and runs. We got our first look at Hix playing tight end during the spring and he certainly passed the eye test. And if Broken Arrow runs into a problem with an injury at the QB position, Hix is about as good as it gets for a “break in case of emergency” quarterback.

Aug. 29th - AT Springdale Har-Ber, AR.
- For the second straight year, Broken Arrow will open up their football season against Springdale Har-Ber. Last year, they had the benefit of doing it at home. This year, they'll have to head across the border to Arkansas. The Tigers beat the Wildcats 42-21 in last year's meeting.
Sept. 5th - AT Fayetteville, AR.
- The Tigers will once again head to northwest Arkansas in week one for a showdown with Fayetteville. The Bulldogs beat Broken Arrow 30-23 last season. New offensive coordinator Jay Wilkinson will be familiar with Fayetteville after he was the OC there for several years.
Sept. 12th - Mustang
- After back to back games in northwest Arkansas, Broken Arrow will have their home opener in week two, against Mustang. The Broncos beat the Tigers 49-48 in overtime a year ago. But this year's match-up features two teams that have absolutely reloaded for a big run in 2025.
Sept. 26th - Owasso
- District play opens up in week four at home as Owasso comes to Broken Arrow. The Tigers are looking to snap a three-game losing streak to the Rams. And there will be some familiar faces on the opposing sidelines. Owasso's new OC is former head coach Josh Blankenship.
Oct. 3rd - AT Yukon
- After a pair of home games, Broken Arrow hits the highway again, only this time west to Yukon for their week five showdown with the Millers. Broken Arrow has dominated this series, winning nine straight since 2014. The Tigers beat Yukon 42-28 in last season's meeting.
Oct. 10th - Edmond Santa Fe
- The second half of the regular season begins at home, against Edmond Santa Fe. Broken Arrow has won the last two meetings against the Wolves, including last year's 27-17 victory. This series has seen some back and forth moments but BA is looking to keep this win streak going.
Oct. 17th - AT Norman North
- Broken Arrow will go on the road in week seven to square off with Norman North. And this is another series where Broken Arrow will be looking to turn things around. The Tigers lost to the Timberwolves 47-28 last year and that was their third loss in the last three years.
Oct. 24th - Union
- Broken Arrow will host Union in a critical district match-up in week eight. The Tigers have lost seven straight against the Redhawks. Prior to that, they had a four-game winning streak going against Union. This game is going to have serious playoff implications for seeding.
Oct. 31st - AT Edmond Memorial
- Broken Arrow played Edmond Memorial in district play every year from 2014-2021. They went 8-0 against them during that stretch. Last year was their first meeting since 2021 and the Bulldogs beat the Tigers 61-28. Broken Arrow travels to Edmond late in the season for the rematch.
Nov. 7th - Westmoore
- The regular season comes to an end in week ten as the Tigers will host Westmoore. These two teams have been district opponents every year since 2012. The Tigers are 11-1 during that stretch, with the only loss coming in 2023. They beat Westmoore 49-7 last season.

As soon as the Broken Arrow job opened up in late November, Travis Hill became the obvious first name that consistently got brought up. The connections were obvious after Hill was the defensive coordinator on the 2018 state championship team. But more than that, he's the right guy for this job because he knows how to resurrect programs. He won a state championship two decades ago at East Central and he's one of the only coaches to have consistent success as head coach of the Cardinals since the turn of the century. Hill became head coach at Muskogee following an 0-7 Covid-impacted season in 2020. They would go 2-8 in his first season and then went 33-5 over the next three years, winning the 2023 state championship and playing for the state title in 2024. And with Broken Arrow suffering through three straight losing seasons, including back to back first round playoff exits, the Tiger program is hungrier than ever to become a contender once again. The Broken Arrow faithful are hoping that Hill is indeed the right guy for this job and all signs are pointing to them being a contender right from the start.
