Expert Analysis
Tony Daniels | Prep Redzone Scout
Zane is a vertical threat who can stretch the field, he shows great body control and a willingness to compete for the football. Beats press coverage with ease and demonstrates strong hand-eye coordination. Zan is sharp with his double moves, consistently creating separation downfield. He makes acrobatic catches look routine and attacks the ball with his hands rather than letting it get into his body. Zane plays with a competitive edge and brings the energy every rep on film. It will be good to keep an eye throughout camp and his senior season to watch him develop even more.

Broken Arrow’s Zane Matthews Zane Matthews WR Broken Arrow | 2027 State OK enjoyed a breakout season last fall, emerging as arguably the most reliable target in the Broken Arrow passing attack. And we’ve been on the record a few times in the last few months that we think 2025 will be very kind to Broken Arrow. We like the personnel they bring back and the Tigers could certainly jump up and return to contending in Class 6A-1. Matthews is a big reason why. The Tigers appear to be absolutely loaded on the offensive side of the ball. There is a wealth of experience and production. Earlier this month, we got a chance to see Matthews in person for the first time at our Oklahoma 7v7 tournament and he immediately passed the eye test. While watching him play for 918 Elite, it felt like he was the best player on the field. He has reliable hands, playmaking ability and is definitely a player on the rise moving forward.

Broken Arrow’s Zane Matthews Zane Matthews WR Broken Arrow | 2027 State OK is in a similar position to Forbes at Sand Springs. We didn’t know much about him coming into this season but after seeing the production that he’s had in the Tiger offense, there was no doubt that he belonged on this breakdown as another newcomer to the 2027 rankings. Matthews leads the team in receptions with over 40 catches on the year and is second in the team in yards. But Matthews also has one of the more bizarre stats that we’ve seen this fall. He leads the team in receptions but is still looking for his first touchdown of the year. Considering his production, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before he hits the end zone.
