Wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='807020' first='Cooper' last='Hooker'] came back with a vengeance in 2025. After suffering a leg injury in 2024, Hooker was the runaway winner for Comeback Player Of The Year in 2025. He helped lead the Wildcats to the quarterfinals and was one of the best players in Class 2A-2 last season. Hooker has been one of the top wide receivers in the state's 2027 class for a while now and has climbed up to the top spot in the latest ranking update. And we're fired up to see him take the field again this fall. Hooker recently made the move from Salina to Pryor and will spend his senior season competing against 5A competition this season.

Deer Creek speedster [player_tooltip player_id='523223' first='Gage' last='Gibbons'] is another 2027 prospect that we've known about since early on in his high school career. And it was around this time last year that Gibbons started to blow up in a major way as a true prospect. And it was what Gibbons was doing on the track that was starting to turn heads. You could see on film or in person that Gibbons was a dynamic talent on the football field and he was a reliable pass catcher but the track times elevated him to another level as a prospect. The speed is real and Gibbons started posting some really impressive times. That continued this offseason as he's a very fun and dynamic player to watch.

We don't have every stat from every wide receiver in the state, but we think it's a safe assumption that Sand Springs wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1530080' first='Dom' last='Forbes'] has arguably the best receiving stats over the last few seasons. Forbes emerged as a sophomore as the top target in the Sand Springs offense. He continued that during his junior season and we are fired up to see what he does for an encore. Now, we'll be very interested to see what Forbes does this fall because the Sandites will be breaking in a new quarterback for the first time in Forbes' career. But he has passed every test over the last two seasons so there's no reason to think he won't pass this one with flying colors.

There are few players that we are more fired up to see this season than [player_tooltip player_id='492378' first='Deakon' last='Jones'] at Stillwater. Jones will be a four-year starter for the Pioneers when he takes the field and there's no doubt that he's going to be hungrier than ever. Jones had his junior season cut short with a season-ending injury and that put a halt to all the momentum Jones had from his sophomore year to the start of junior season. So needless to say, Jones is going to try and go down the Hooker route at Salina last fall. And there aren't many players that will be bigger favorites to be the 2026 comeback player of the year because when Jones is healthy, he is truly special.

Carl Albert's [player_tooltip player_id='1694441' first='Jacson' last='Webster'] might be flying under the radar going into the summer months but that shouldn't be the case. Carl Albert's headlines were dominated last fall by a record-breaking running back. But look further into Carl Albert's offense and you see an absolute playmaker in Webster. We watched the Titans in person for their two biggest games of the year with the semifinals and championship game. In both instances, Webster was arguably the best wide receiver on the field and we don't remember the ball hitting the turf when it came his way. He's a dynamic playmaker that is primed for a big senior season this fall.

Around this time last year, [player_tooltip player_id='716513' first='Payton' last='Lang'] was making the move from Muskogee to Broken Arrow and he ended up being one of the top targets in their passing game in 2025. Lang started his career as the ultimate swiss army knife, where you could put him just about anywhere and he would find a way to make an impact. During his junior season, he settled in at the wide receiver position and found a lot of success. Lang is definitely in the category of reliable pass catchers, where you know what you're going to get from him game in and game out. This offseason, college coaches have taken notice and his recruitment has started to take off.

[player_tooltip player_id='1838872' first='Cameron' last='Quarrels Jr']. joined Edmond Memorial a little over a year ago as a move in from Arkansas. He immediately gave the Bulldogs a dynamic playmaker at the wide receiver position. He had a really solid first season with his new team, emerging as one of the top targets in the passing game. We've watched Quarrels in person this offseason at both of our 7v7 tournaments and each time, he was one of the top wide receivers that we watched. It didn't matter if he was running short, intermediate or deep routes, he found a way to get open. And in those instances where he didn't create separation, the "50-50 balls" leaned closer to "70-30" with Quarrels on the other end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1637567' first='Isaac' last='Woodard'] has been a name to know in the state's 2027 wide receiver class since his sophomore season. He had a breakout season with Edmond Memorial and has continued to improve his game over the last 18 months. But when he takes the field this fall, he's going to have some new threads on. Woodard moved over to Mustang this offseason and on paper, there's no doubt that the Broncos have loaded up at the skill positions and Woodard brings a prospect that can take the top off a defense. He's a reliable pass catcher down the field and whoever wins the QB1 job is going to have a major target at the wide receiver position with Woodard.

Del City's [player_tooltip player_id='2131646' first='Josiah' last='Chester'] continues to be another prospect in this 2027 class that is flying under the radar. We first watched Chester in person during his sophomore season and then up close at one of our camps last year. He was arguably the best wide receiver in attendance and then he backed that up by doing it again this offseason. Chester has speed, athleticism and incredibly reliable hands that make him a marquee playmaker in just about any offense. Chester looks comfortable running just about any route and can find a way to impact his team's offense. Chester will bring a lot of experience to the field when Del City takes the field in 2026.

There aren't many 2027 prospects, regardless of position, that we've written about more this offseason than [player_tooltip player_id='1684110' first='Jackson' last='Parks'] from Pryor. We first started watching Parks last fall and in our opinion, he immediately passed the eye test and he was a big reason why the Tigers had their best season in recent memory. Then we got a chance to watch him in person at our camp and 7v7 tournament and once again, he impressed us with his overall speed to go along with his size and reliable hands. Parks is a weapon and it's somewhat baffling that he's still flying under the radar. And quite honestly, we probably have him too low here and he'll probably prove us wrong soon.

FIVE MORE WIDE RECEIVERS TO FOLLOW

[player_tooltip player_id='1461909' first='Hunter' last='Purvis'] - Jones

We're incredibly high on Jones wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1461909' first='Hunter' last='Purvis'] moving forward. In case you missed it, we wrote about Purvis back in February after he absolutely tore up our showcase event. He was without a doubt one of the best players in attendance and that's coming after a breakout junior season with the Longhorns. We think he'll be one of the top playmakers in Class 3A this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1035155' first='Jalen' last='Lane'] - Tuttle

Tuttle needed some new wide receivers to step up in 2025 and [player_tooltip player_id='1035155' first='Jalen' last='Lane'] certainly answered the call. He ended up being a dynamic weapon for the Tigers in the passing game and in the return game. Now, we're fired up to see what he does for an encore because now, the Tigers need to replace one of the state's best quarterbacks so they'll need Lane to elevate his game up another notch.

[player_tooltip player_id='692003' first='Jaylon' last='Cato'] - Jenks

We've seen Jenks wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='692003' first='Jaylon' last='Cato'] tear it up on the 7v7 circuit over the last few offseasons but last fall, he had his breakout moment with the pads on under the Friday night lights. Cato emerged as a terrific target in the short and intermediate passing game for the Trojans. This season, we're expecting his targets and overall production to go up even more as a senior.

[player_tooltip player_id='1530085' first='Zane' last='Matthews'] - Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1530085' first='Zane' last='Matthews'] is on our shortlist of players to watch this season based on how he ended his junior campaign. The last time we watched Matthews, the Tigers were in the 6A-1 semifinals against Bixby. Matthews had a terrific game against the Spartans and we're looking forward to seeing how he carries that momentum into the 2026 season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1704215' first='Noah' last='Lloyd'] - Talihina

If anyone is going to have better numbers than Forbes over the last few seasons, it's [player_tooltip player_id='1704215' first='Noah' last='Lloyd'] at Talihina. Lloyd is a big receiver that finds a way to get open time after time. He was on the receiving end of a lot of yards and a lot of touchdowns as the Golden Tigers made a run to the state championship in 2025. He's back and looking to firmly establish himself as one of the top producers in Oklahoma.
