Key Games: Aug. 29 at Southeast Polk; Sept. 19 vs Ankeny; Oct. 17 at Dowling Catholic

Outlook: The Jaguars performed on a championship level at times last season but came up short, 14-10, against Dowling in the state quarterfinals. The hope is that disappointment is processed into motivation to take the next step. It's a roster that should match up well against the 5A field, but one that will be replacing important production lost to graduation. The good news is they should be able to hang their hat on the running game again with a healthy Morgan, and what should be a top O-Line anchored by Dieken-Keahey (South Dakota State), Schutty and McAtee. Brooks is a promising tight end prospect. Blount Jr. has been a fixture on a good defense during his first two seasons as a prep. Luce is a force on the D-Line, and Bogseth is a breakout candidate there. [player_tooltip player_id='1198818' first='Rowan' last='Doak'] will push to replace the valuable Kluver as QB1. [player_tooltip player_id='1234335' first='Cameron' last='Meiners'], [player_tooltip player_id='1699477' first='Gavin' last='Matheny'], [player_tooltip player_id='1238500' first='Kade' last='Muehring'], [player_tooltip player_id='1221965' first='Nash' last='Targgart'], [player_tooltip player_id='1617623' first='Cade' last='Newman'], [player_tooltip player_id='1602643' first='Devan' last='Goode'], [player_tooltip player_id='1207827' first='Logan' last='Crowner'], [player_tooltip player_id='1105164' first='Logan' last='Wirtz'], [player_tooltip player_id='1656826' first='Max' last='Schmitz'] and others will have opportunities to fill important roles.

Notable Losses: Jackson Lamb; Javon Sanders; Blake Butters; Charley Feucaloro; Jackson Senecaut; Judson Dietrich; Denver Longden; Daniel Sakyiamah; Carlos Joya-Redondo.

Key Games: Aug. 29 at Des Moines Roosevelt; Sept. 5 at Des Moines North; Oct. 17 at Des Moines East

Outlook: The boys from the southside are seeking incremental improvement in pushing the program forward. That starts with taking care of business in the city, where the Railsplitters were 1-2 a year ago. Lamb and Sanders have graduated after powering last year's offense. Daymonee and Dayvon Wesley can help mitigate those losses as versatile running backs, and Jenkins can do damage as a receiver. Armstrong and Sirleaf are capable of impacting the action on both sides of the trench. Hass is a playmaker in the secondary.

Key Games: Aug. 29 vs Norwalk; Sept. 26 vs WDM Valley; Oct. 10 at Centennial

Outlook: Indianola jumps up a class after contending for the postseason in 4A a year ago. It will make the move sans major contributors lost to graduation. Having Brueck, Hilton and Kaufman back in the fold should mean the passing game can ding opposing defenses. King, Wilbur and Lafrenz all are disruptive presences on the Indianola defense. Carson Keller and Slade Koenig are part of a younger group of guys that could form a strong offensive line, which could go a long way in determining how the season goes. [player_tooltip player_id='1204468' first='George' last='Blake'], [player_tooltip player_id='1607041' first='Rylan' last='Hilton'], [player_tooltip player_id='1689762' first='Guy' last='Berryhill'] and other inexperienced players will be looking to seize opportunities for game reps.

Key Games: Sept. 5 vs CB Lincoln; Sept. 26 at DM Lincoln; Oct. 3 at Urbandale

Outlook: North faces a more difficult schedule than it did a year ago, so it will need noticeable improvement to increase the win total. Zachary Hagan has a chance to move the Stars forward if he takes another step forward in his development. He has plenty of help in running backs Henry, Warfield and Rasmussen, and Morgensen is a reliable target in the passing game. Andrew Hagan will lead a defense that will need new names to emerge. [player_tooltip player_id='1222863' first='Aiden' last='Dot'], [player_tooltip player_id='1222859' first='Austin' last='Nelson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241509' first='Jackson' last='Richter'], [player_tooltip player_id='1631389' first='Kadyn' last='Edwardson'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241510' first='Leslie' last='Sliter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1198380' first='Ian' last='Lofflin'] are among a collection of talented guys competing for more run on both sides of the ball.

Key Games: Aug. 29 vs Dallas Center-Grimes; Sept. 12 at WDM Valley; Oct. 17 vs Norwalk

Outlook: Perhaps the last few seasons of taking lumps with younger rosters will pay off for the J-Hawks in 2025. The talent and experience is present for a leap forward. Rinnan, a junior, will be QB1 for the third year in a row. He should be freed up to throw or go with Bowie, Pardon and Tran back on what should be a top-notch O-Line. Tarpeh and Dahlgren are breakout candidates at the skill positions. Blanshan and Hughell form a dynamic duo at linebacker, and the same could be said for Chulu and Yager in the back end. Urbandale will need guys to step up from a group that includes [player_tooltip player_id='1212629' first='Jackson' last='Sturdivant'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241369' first='Lincoln' last='Cole'], [player_tooltip player_id='1204464' first='Brayden' last='Cowger'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1617697' first='Jude' last='McNaughton'].

Key Games: Aug. 29 vs Dowling; Oct. 3 vs Centennial; Oct. 17 at Ankeny

Outlook: Last year's 5A runners-up, the Tigers look to take the final step to a championship with a strong nucleus returning in 2025. Of course, they'll be tasked with replacing key contributors, but it's a program that develops talent well. New names will become recognizable for their accomplishments. DeGroote (Northwest Missouri State) showed last season that he's one of the state's best signal callers. He should be even better damaging opposing defenses with Brown, McGregory and others catching passes. McGregory also is an all-state defensive back who's committed to Louisville's secondary. Valley brings back a solid defensive core led by LeLaCheur, Wolter, Jimenez and Booth. [player_tooltip player_id='1241402' first='Anthony' last='Mershon'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241403' first='Caden' last='Flewellyn'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241406' first='Carlo' last='Bocanegra'], [player_tooltip player_id='1241404' first='Donault' last='Moore Jr']., [player_tooltip player_id='1588724' first='Ari' last='Raridon'], Cole Wiarda, Andy Rickert, Ryan Trimble, Joseph Mausser, Mason Karl and [player_tooltip player_id='1241405' first='Trent' last='Grevengoed'] all are looking to contribute more to the cause by seizing opportunities in 2025.
