What Riley Lafrenz Riley Lafrenz 6'0" | 250 lbs | DL Indianola | 2027 State IA lacks in size, he makes up for in explosiveness and active aggression against his opponents. Despite playing a limited role, Lafrenz racked up 15 tackles, 4 TFLs, and a fumble recovery in 2025. Despite playing in the Nose in the toughest conference in the state, Lafrenz proves slippery and agile to make it difficult for blockers to get a grip and to seal in the inside gaps, while also being able to seamlessly fit through the gaps and emerge in the backfield to stop the run behind the LOS. Lafrenz has been a target already for several NAIA teams, and he should continue to garner serious attention as a priority target for small-school units.

Northwestern College, Grand View, Graceland and Morningside have extended opportunities to Lafrenz. He would do well choosing any one of those programs. The Indianola defensive lineman also could attract more attention with a super senior season on top of what he’s already shown. Lafrenz is a mix of power and speed on the inside of the defensive line, operating with excellent leverage and burst. Offensive linemen often are overwhelmed by his motor and impressive array of moves. His hands are strong and active. He’ll be a nightmare for opponents in 2026.

A stocky defensive tackle that stands at 6-foot and 245 pounds, Riley LaFrenz has deceptive explosion and foot speed. If opposing OL don’t get a chance to look at the film prior to playing Indianola, they’ll be lucky to not get popped in the mouth and pushed off the line of scrimmage by Lafrenz on the first down of the game.

Even if OL know what they’re in for, Lafrenz is able to take the initial shot, utilize a swim move or shoot a gap to get into the backfield for a tackle-for-loss (TFL). One can easily see the Vikings’ vision for Lafrenz as a hole-plugging DL.

Lafrenz looked the part as an interior defensive lineman during his sophomore season of 2024. The performance created excitement for what was to come with a high-ceiling prospect. When we press play on his 10th-grade highlight video, we can see Lafrenz create disruption for the offense. He’s an impressive mixture of power and burst. Lafrenz absorbs blocks and also separates from them when the ball comes his way. He finished last season with 11.0 tackles (8 solo, 1.0 TFL) and a sack, foreshadowing what could be a breakout ’25 campaign.
