Enjoy!

Week four is in the books and district play has opened up and these games start counting towards playoff seeding. Every weekend, we'll take a look at some of the top results from across the state of Oklahoma. Whether it was one of the biggest games of the week, an upset that nobody saw coming or something else, we'll have everything you need to know about the week that was with the weekly round up post. And keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the weekend when we put up our weekly Top Performer feature and we finish off the weekend with our updated rankings for each class!

BETHEL 28, PRAGUE 20

Bethel opened up district play with a massive 28-20 win over Prague on Friday night. Behind a strong running game and a big second half performance, Bethel would run away with the win. The Wildcats were led by that strong running game as junior [player_tooltip player_id='1045558' first='Luke' last='Quinter'] would have a strong performance on both sides of the ball but he helped carry the offensive load. And this was a game that Bethel trailed 20-14 at halftime. They would completely turn things around in the third and fourth quarter, outscoring the Red Devils 14-0 to get the big district victory. Bethel is now 1-0 in the district, putting them in a good position for a playoff spot and they've avoided a 1-3 start to this season.

BIXBY 21, JENKS 7

In a rematch of last year's 6A-1 state championship game, it was #2 Bixby hosting #4 Jenks in the week four game of the week. Bixby used a suffocating defense and a relentless ground game to get out of week four with the 21-7 victory over the Trojans. They outscored Jenks 14-0 in the second half, completely shutting out Jenks after halftime. The two quarterback system with [player_tooltip player_id='284114' first='Carson' last='Kirby'] and [player_tooltip player_id='255022' first='Cooper' last='Parker'] worked to perfection as the Spartans really controlled the ball and limited Jenks' opportunities. Then throw in the fact that the Spartans held the Jenks rushing attack to well under 100 yards and now you have Bixby with a 3-1 record and Jenks a surprising 1-3 to start the season.

CHOCTAW 56, PIEDMONT 40

We didn't know what to expect in this 6A-2 district opener but we probably wouldn't have predicted nearly 100 combined points between Choctaw and Piedmont. The Yellowjackets would go on the road, running away with this district opener in the second half. Running back [player_tooltip player_id='476091' first='Mayor' last='Morgan'] and the rest of the Choctaw offense could not be contained on Friday night, putting up over 50 points and well over 500 yards of total offense. This game was tied 28-28 at halftime and the Yellowjackets had a slight lead going into the fourth quarter. But from there, the Yellowjackets continued their relentless attack on offense, dominating the fourth quarter and getting out with a win.

CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 24, WALTERS 7

We've kept Christian Heritage in our Class A-1 rankings despite a 1-2 start because the non-district schedule was a tough one and not all 1-2 records are the same. The Crusaders showed that in the district opener, getting a big 24-7 home win over Walters. The Crusaders did a good job of limiting Walters and their running game and this was a district opener that Christian Heritage really controlled from the start. They jumped out 7-0 on their first possession and led 14-0 at halftime. They were never in danger in the second half as they would shut down every attempt for a comeback bid. Christian Heritage is now 2-2 on the year and Walters dropped to 3-1 this season.

CLAREMORE 28, TAHLEQUAH 21

In a very chippy Class 5A contest, Claremore would knock off Tahlequah 28-21 in a game that will definitely make or break one of these teams in the district standings later on this year. Both teams had several personal foul penalties early on as the teams went back and forth early on. This game was tied 14-14 at halftime but the Zebras would have a little more juice than the Tigers in the second half. Tahlequah actually outgained the Zebras by about 50 yards but Claremore did a good job of limiting their scoring opportunities in the second half. Every district victory is going to be very important in this district as there could be up to five teams battling for the four playoff spots.

COLCORD 48, WYANDOTTE 0

We mentioned it a few times prior to this season how tough this district was going to be in Class 2A-2. In addition to Colcord, you also have top ten teams like Adair and Kansas, along with strong teams like Salina and Wyandotte that could make some noise. So for Colcord to come out this strong to open district play, shutting out Wyandotte 48-0, that definitely got our attention. Wyandotte has a good offense with a really talented dual-threat quarterback. To keep Wyandotte off the scoreboard is a big accomplishment. Wyandotte now has to bounce back from their first loss of the year but the schedule is a tough one. They return home in week five to face Kansas.

DEL CITY 61, COLLINSVILLE 10

In a match-up of top five teams in Class 5A, it was an absolute blowout from the opening series as #5 Del City went on the road and took down #2 Collinsville 61-10. It should be noted that the Cardinals were without their starting quarterback and starting running back but this was a game of complete domination from the Eagles. They did almost whatever they wanted on the offensive side of the ball and the Cardinals finished with negative rushing yards as the Eagles completely owned the line of scrimmage. For a complete breakdown on the Eagles and complete game highlights, you can check out our post from earlier this week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma!

EDMOND MEMORIAL 21, NORMAN NORTH 6

#7 Edmond Memorial improved to 3-1 on the season with a 21-6 victory on the road against Norman North on Thursday night. Two stories that came out of this game was the dominance of Edmond Memorial's defense. They shut out Norman North for over 47 minutes but the Timberwolves scored on the final play of the game. And Kansas quarterback commit [player_tooltip player_id='209872' first='David' last='McComb'] was outstanding in the pass game as well as the running game and he certainly lived up to the hype. For a complete breakdown on the top performers from each side and a look at the full game highlights, you can check out our post from earlier this week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma!

HERITAGE HALL 35, NORTH ROCK CREEK 20

It was the top Thursday night game in week four as Heritage Hall would knock off North Rock Creek 35-20 in a rematch of last year's first round win. We knew that Heritage Hall wasn't going to blow out North Rock Creek like they did in the 2023 playoffs but through the first two quarters, it looked like that might happen. The Chargers led 29-0 at halftime as senior [player_tooltip player_id='434307' first='Barrett' last='Travis'] had a strong game on both sides of the ball. North Rock Creek would actually outscore Heritage Hall 20-6 in the second half but the halftime deficit was too much to overcome. Despite the loss, North Rock Creek senior and North Texas commit [player_tooltip player_id='593641' first='Caleb' last='Hawkins'] showed why he's one of the best in Class 3A.

IDABEL 41, HOLLAND HALL 7

Another Thursday night 3A showdown took place in southeastern Oklahoma but it turned into a runaway victory for Idabel over Holland Hall. The Warriors would roll to a 41-7 victory over the Dutch and Idabel continues to be a very intriguing team to watch in Class 3A. Coming into this season, we knew that Idabel would be a team to watch because of their two D1 commits in [player_tooltip player_id='479389' first='Matrail' last='Lopez'] (Oklahoma State) and [player_tooltip player_id='211234' first='Ravian' last='Larry'] (Utah State) and those two guys led the way for the Warriors on Thursday night. Both players made some spectacular plays in the win over Holland Hall. The Dutch now have to rebound from a tough loss but it could get tougher as they host top-ranked Lincoln Christian next.

JONES 29, PERRY 0

After a week off, the Jones Longhorns bounced back from a week two loss to Bethany by shutting out Perry 29-0. Coming into week four, we thought that the Longhorns would take care of business but we didn't necessarily predict a shutout victory. That definitely got our attention and we're looking forward to seeing them in person in week five. Jones looked great in week four behind a balanced offense and a truly dominant defense but week five brings the toughest challenge of the regular season. The Longhorns will go on the road to face Millwood and this is a battle of two of the top three teams in Class 2A-1. Perry now looks to bounce back at home against Blackwell.

KINGSTON 29, KIEFER 28 (OT)

In another overtime classic, Kingston would knock off Kiefer 29-28 in overtime. The Redskins improved to 3-1 on the season but more importantly 1-0 in district play. And when we look at the 2A-1 playoff picture, these two teams looked like the top two within this district. So when November rolls around, it wouldn't be surprising to see this game deciding the district championship. Kingston would go into overtime and needed an extra point to knock off the Trojans to get the overtime win. Jamie Lewis would come up clutch, kicking the game-winning field goal for the final play of the game. While this puts Kingston in a good position, don't overlook Kiefer moving forward.

MOORE 21, MUSTANG 20

Last week, we wrote about the Moore Lions and how we wanted to see how they would continue to look following another 3-0 start. Well, they are now 4-0 and another step closer to punching their ticket to the playoffs for the first time in several years. The Lions went on the road and handed Mustang their first loss of the season with a 21-20 victory. The Lions were playing without their starting quarterback so they leaned on the running game and they responded. [player_tooltip player_id='1751526' first='Maverick' last='Gardner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1506286' first='Ozias' last='Adams'] led the way and Adams is turning into a player that you have to know in 6A-1 after another stellar performance running the ball. The Lions held on to win as a bad snap led to Mustang missing a field goal as time expired.

MULDROW 42, EUFAULA 41 (2OT)

The Muldrow Bulldogs have improved to 4-0 on the season but it took two overtimes to do it. They would survive a week four clash with Eufaula, winning 42-41 in double overtime. And we've already written about him a few times this season but we have to do it again here. Junior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1161908' first='Teaguen' last='Collins'] led the way for the Bulldogs and it is very clear to us that he is turning into an absolute star. He is the definition of a dual-threat quarterback with over 600 passing yards and nearly 600 rushing yards. After going through some growing pains in 2023 with a young roster, the Bulldogs look like a team that can make it back to the 3A playoffs. And with Collins leading the way, they could make a run.

OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 25, CHISHOLM 22

The more weeks that pass, the more we think that district one in Class 2A-1 might be the toughest in the state. It looks like there are six teams capable of making the playoffs and these are two of them. Oklahoma Christian School knocking off Chisholm 25-22 in the district opener definitely puts OCS in a good position in the district standings. They kicked a game-winning field goal with a little over two minutes left to break the 22-22 tie. The Saints were led by a defense that forced five turnovers on the night and a passing attack with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1288791' first='Wyatt' last='Fitzgerald'] that could not be slowed down. He finished the night with nearly 300 yards passing and three touchdowns in the win.

OWASSO 49, BROKEN ARROW 21

After a week off, Owasso picked up right where they left off, playing flawless football and dominating the second half in a 49-21 victory over Broken Arrow. That's become a common theme through their first four victories. The Rams led 22-7 at halftime, scoring on all three offensive possessions. But in the third quarter, they absolutely exploded and before you knew it, they outscored the Tigers 27-0 in third period alone and put it on cruise control from there. The Rams are definitely reminiscent of the recent Bixby teams where you had to be a perfect to even have a shot at beating them. The Rams will now go on the road for another top five showdown against Union.

PAULS VALLEY 43, KINGFISHER 40

3A's #3 Pauls Valley had one of the best rallies of week four as they beat Kingfisher 43-40 on Friday night after trailing 40-22 going into the fourth quarter. The Panthers have been solid to start the 2024 season but they found themselves in a deep hole on Friday night. Senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1005608' first='Tanner' last='Perry'] was incredibly clutch in his first game this season where he actually felt healthy. Baylor commit [player_tooltip player_id='353410' first='Caden' last='Knighten'] also had another stellar performance and continues to be a massive threat for Pauls Valley in the running game as well as the pass game as a receiver. The Panthers now shift their focus to a big road match-up against an unbeaten Plainview squad in week five.

SALLISAW 40, HILLDALE 34 (2OT)

Maybe week four brought a full moon because there were overtime and double overtime games everywhere. Sallisaw pulled off one of the better wins of week four, going on the road and rallying to beat Hilldale 40-34 in double overtime. The Black Diamonds trailed 21-6 at halftime and it looked like the Hornets were in control of this one. Hilldale actually had to kick a field goal as time expired in regulation to force the first overtime. The game was still tied after the first overtime and Hilldale would miss a field goal to start the second overtime. That opened the door for Sallisaw to win the game. They would score the game-winning touchdown to get the monster district victory.

WAGONER 54, FORT GIBSON 14

In one of several 4A match-ups in week four that featured ranked opponents, Wagoner absolutely dominated Fort Gibson, leaving little doubt that they are one of the elite teams in this class. The Bulldogs went on the road and won 54-14 as their stars shined bright. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='530573' first='Kale' last='Charboneau'] and defensive end [player_tooltip player_id='294262' first='Alex' last='Shieldnight'] led the way as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and they never looked back from there. We've said this for a few weeks now but this is another example. In Class 4A, there are a handful of truly elite teams and Wagoner is one of them. The Bulldogs looked primed to dominate their opponents throughout the regular season.

WEATHERFORD 21, CLINTON 10

Out in western Oklahoma, we had a Class 4A showdown of top ten teams. Weatherford bounced back from a tough loss to Pauls Valley and handed Clinton their first loss of the season with a 21-10 victory. This game was close for two quarters as the Eagles led 14-10 at halftime. And when we look back at this game, it looks like turnovers really hurt Clinton in the second half and because of that, they were never really able to get the rally necessary to get the comeback win. And it's only the end of week four, but when we look at this match-up in the big picture, a win here could provide the difference between being at home for the first round of the playoffs or on the road.
