Lincoln Christian AT Heritage Hall</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There's not a better 3A game on the non-district slate this season. In week one, Heritage Hall will open up their season against Lincoln Christian in a rematch of last year's state championship game. It's also a match-up featuring the top two-ranked teams in our 3A preseason rankings. These two programs are very familiar with one another after countless meetings in the playoffs over the last decade but now we get to see them go head to head in the regular season. Both teams expect to contend for the state title this fall but both teams will also look very different from the two teams we saw take the field back in December. It'll be fun to see how these two evolve following this head to head clash. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>October 25th - Heritage Hall AT Pauls Valley</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Arguably the best 3A district clash will take place in week eight when Heritage Hall goes on the road to face Pauls Valley. These are two of the top three teams in our 3A preseason rankings for 2024. Heritage Hall has been one of, if not the best team in 3A football over the last decade. Pauls Valley has been a borderline playoff team during that stretch. But the Panthers bring back almost everyone from last year and got a marquee addition with one of the best running backs in the state moving in. That makes them a serious contender in 2024 but when it comes to 3A football, most roads lead through Heritage Hall. We'll find out how serious Pauls Valley is here. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>November 1st - Victory Christian AT Sulphur</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In week nine, we'll see Sulphur host Victory Christian in a match-up featuring the top two ranked teams from this district. Sulphur is a very intriguing team coming into this season because the Bulldogs are a top five team but they are going to be battle-tested by the time they reach November. Their non-district schedule is one of the tougher ones in Class 3A this season. On the other side of this match-up, you have a Victory Christian team that is an unexpected addition after originally slated to be in Class 2A-1. The Conquerors have to replace some serious production from last year but they also bring back some players primed for big seasons.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>November 8th - Cascia Hall AT Berryhill</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We have to wait all the way to the final week of the regular season for a game that could decide the district championship. Berryhill will host Cascia Hall in week ten and for both of these teams, it will feel like the playoffs have started a week early. It's likely that this game decides the district title and even if it doesn't, it will have major implications. Both teams are ranked in the top six in our preseason rankings. Berryhill brings back a lot of talent on the line of scrimmage, along with their quarterback. Cascia Hall brings back a lot of production from their offense and could be one of the highest scoring teams in 3A this fall. This should be a great game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>November 8th - Idabel AT Lincoln Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another Tulsa-area showdown on the final night of the regular season takes place here as Lincoln Christian hosts Idabel. The Bulldogs are looking to defend their state championship and Idabel has moved up to 3A this season. The Warriors will definitely be a team that you can't overlook this season. They have two D1 commits and a roster full of experience. Lincoln Christian is looking to reload after last year's state championship run. This match-up is one to watch because the Warriors have a chance to make some noise. And Lincoln Christian has been absolutely dominant in their district for years now. Idabel could change that this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2024 SEASON OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For the last ten years, Class 3A has been dominated by the private schools. From Heritage Hall and Lincoln Christian to Holland Hall and Metro Christian. We've seen all four dominate this class at different times and on paper, it looks like things will stay the same in 2024. And that was almost going to change this season. In April, several OKC-area private schools won a court ruling that would put some heavy hitters (like Heritage Hall, Holland Hall and Lincoln Christian) back in Class 3A after they were slated to be in 4A for at least the next two seasons. Before that ruling, it looked like 3A would be incredibly wide open. Now, it looks like it will be an absolute gauntlet. Because while those same private school powers are strong, they also lost a lot to graduation. And you have other teams like Berryhill and Sulphur that are very experienced and have some legitimate talent returning. Pauls Valley is one of the more intriguing teams to watch this fall. They've been a borderline playoff team for years now but almost all of their starters return, along with a massive addition at running back, making them a serious contender this fall. Other private schools like Cascia Hall and Victory Christian come into this season with high expectations and offenses that can light up the scoreboard. Idabel moves up to 3A this season and they have multiple D1 commits. Plainview is hungrier than ever after missing out on the playoffs and North Rock Creek is looking to continue their momentum after making their first ever playoff appearance last year. And there are several teams outside of the top ten that have legitimate star power or a solid core coming back to make plenty of noise this season. While Class 3A has been pretty predictable over the last few years, and it might be this year, we don't know where it's going and that's a very exciting thing for the 2024 season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
