<p>A ninth-grade season left behind last fall, the Class of 2027 barrels toward its sophomore campaign. It will provide a big stage for many prospects in the cycle looking to compete in college.</p>

<p>Plenty of group members already are tearing it up on the recruiting trail, however. They're receiving offers, speaking with college coaches at their schools, attending mega camps and workouts on campuses. </p>

<p>Here's a look at the latest happenings around the state: </p>

<p>-Prep Redzone Iowa's No. 1 player in the class, [player_tooltip player_id='1197438' first='Jaxx' last='DeJean'], camped with Iowa and picked up a Hawkeye scholarship offer last week. The Ida Grove (IA) OABCIG High standout visited Alabama-Birmingham in February, when the Blazers became his first offer. Minnesota, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Northern Iowa and others invited him to their camps this month. DeJean has had to schedule trips around his high school baseball season. </p>

<p>"Getting an offer from Iowa means a lot to me," DeJean said. "I've watched the Hawkeyes my whole life and have always been a huge fan. So getting an offer from them means a lot." </p>

<p>DeJean's oldest brother, Cooper DeJean, was an All-American at Iowa before being selected by Philadelphia in April's NFL Draft. Another sibling, Beckett DeJean, red shirted as a South Dakota freshman in '23. </p>

<p>-Norwalk tight end [player_tooltip player_id='1198816' first='Luke' last='Brewer'] collected offers from Kansas State, Miami (FL) and Toledo since the end of April. Our second-ranked student-athlete in the class added them to the one he picked up from Iowa State in October. Brewer camped with the Cyclones this week. He's visited Iowa multiple times during the last year and will camp with the Hawkeyes this month. </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1197458' first='Landon' last='Blum'] reported an Iowa State offer on April 26. The Woodbine standout camped with the Cyclones and Nebraska so far with stops at Kansas State, Georgia and Iowa still to come in June. The No. 3 prospect for PRZIA was invited to camps at Oklahoma, Illinois, Texas Tech, Missouri, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Kansas and elsewhere. He's been invited to the Hawkeye recruiting tailgater on Saturday as well. </p>

<p>-No. 4 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1198817' first='Carlos' last='Blount Jr']. camped with Missouri at the end of May. He's visited Iowa and Iowa State this year, and was invited to camp with both in-state programs. Kansas, Texas Tech, Buffalo, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and others also invited him to their camps. </p>

<p>-In May, [player_tooltip player_id='1204540' first='Jaxson' last='McIntire'] announced he'd been invited to camps at Iowa State and Kansas State. He visited the Cyclones and Iowa during the last football season. </p>

<p>-Sioux City East's [player_tooltip player_id='1198829' first='Kason' last='Clayborne'] competed at the Iowa State camp earlier this month. He and some of his high school teammates visited Nebraska at the end of March. His schedule has been busy with baseball season this summer.</p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1197446' first='Wyatt' last='Valenta'] competed at the Iowa State camp on June 5. Indiana, Harvard, Northern Iowa and others invited him to camps. </p>

<p>-After a strong spring in 7-on-7 ball, [player_tooltip player_id='466364' first='Tate' last='Wallace'] saw interest in him pick up. The Regina athlete and No. 9 prospect in the class camped at Iowa on June 2 and Iowa State on Wednesday. He had additional camp stops set up at Wisconsin and Kansas State with invites from Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Indiana and others.</p>

<p>-Storm Lake's [player_tooltip player_id='1197479' first='David' last='William'], No. 10 in our rankings, camped with Iowa State on June 5. He reported running the 40-yard dash in 4.64 seconds and a 28-inch triple broad jump. </p>

<p>-Iowa Central and Buena Vista invited Dubuque Senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1204423' first='Rome' last='Freeman'] to camps this summer. </p>

<p>-[player_tooltip player_id='1105159' first='Darrian' last='Anderson'] camped at Iowa State on June 2, with Kansas State on Saturday and at Iowa on Wednesday. The Sioux City East sophomore also was invited to camps at Oklahoma and Penn. </p>
