The Prep Redzone 7v7 circuit made it’s way through Oklahoma this weekend as the second annual Sooner State Shootout took place in Broken Arrow. We had a great weekend of football and saw so many players at all levels making plays both days. Congratulations to our champions of the tournament! TheUNIT Platinum continued their dominant offseason by winning the 18U title. Sooner 7 took home the 15U and 14U championships and had a runner up finish in 12U while Level Up 7v7 would win that 12U crown but they also had teams make the 18U and 15U championship games.
From player breakdowns in all divisions to photos and video highlights, Prep Redzone is committed to being America’s Most Covered 7v7 Circuit. In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on the 15U champions from Sooner 7. We’ve already had a few of their players featured this week but as one of the best 15U teams in this region, they put on a show.
Stillwater 2027 wide receiver Deakon Jones Deakon Jones 6’0″ | 170 lbs | WR Stillwater | 2027 State OK came into this weekend’s tournament as one of the top wide receivers on any 15U team in the tournament field. Jones is a star in the making and we love his competitive nature. Jones had an off day (by his standards) late on Saturday and bounced back in a major way on Sunday. In their first game on Saturday, Jones caught the game-winning touchdown. Then when I was watching in person, Jones had some struggles but then came back Sunday and dominated. He caught everything thrown his way and reminded us why he’s already considered one of the top prospects in the state’s young 2027 class. Jones was an impact freshman for Stillwater and the ceiling is very high.
Sooner 7’s 15U squad has a pair of very talented quarterbacks rotating. Union 2027 QB Kason Delgado Kason Delgado 6’0″ | 170 lbs | QB Union | 2027 State OK and Victory Christian 2028 signal caller Maddox Young Maddox Young 6’0″ | 160 lbs | QB Victory Christian | 2028 OK was the other QB taking reps. Both impressed throughout the weekend and one of our other writers is breaking down Delgado and that gives me a chance to write about Young for the first time. I like what I saw from him this weekend and there were not only some big throws but some clutch plays down the stretch to keep Sooner 7 rolling. Young reclassified last year and will be a freshman at Victory Christian this fall. We’re fired up to see what he’s able to do at the high school level. We know that Young puts the work in and he certainly impressed us this weekend in Broken Arrow.
Highlights
Coming into the tournament, Jenks 2027 standout Semaj Stanford Semaj Stanford 5’10” | 165 lbs | ATH Jenks | 2027 State OK was among the top prospects in attendance. He’s already considered by us as the state’s top overall prospect in the 2027 class and he reminded people of why on Saturday and Sunday. Stanford absolutely dominated late in pool play on Saturday and continued that dominance into bracket play on Sunday. We wrote about Stanford last week coming into the tournament and mentioned how he dominated this tournament a year ago and how it was on both sides of the ball. This weekend, Stanford was only on defense and still had a massive impact. The on-field IQ for Stanford is off the charts and what’s terrifying for opponents is he’s only going to get better.
