announced his verbal commitment and is headed up to the pacific northwest to Oregon. Sims also accepted an invitation to the All American bowl in January as one of the nation’s top prospects. Sims has been a prospect that we first saw when he was still down in Texas. He came up to Durant last summer and has been one of the top prospects in Oklahoma ever since. Sims is so dangerous up front and you can tell how much work he puts in away from the Friday night lights to do just that. Earlier this season, Sims grabbed a lot of headlines by lining up on offense and making a catch in the end zone that ended up on ESPN. We’ve seen Sims play in quite a few 7v7 tournaments over the last two years so that was no surprise to us.

Speaking of top prospects in the state, Yarbrough isn’t the only one that the Lions have returning this season. 2024 defensive lineman Xadavien Sims is one of the more disruptive defensive linemen in the state and he’s near the top of our 2024 prospect rankings. Earlier this offseason, Sims committed to Oregon after receiving offers and attention from just about every power five school you can think of. It was about 14 months ago that Sims moved up to Oklahoma from Texas and immediately became one of the top prospects in the state’s 2024 class. He is an absolute force up front and he’s looking to have a massive senior season.

It was around this time last year when defensive lineman Xadavien Sims moved up to Oklahoma from Texas and landed in Durant. We said it then and nothing has changed. With Sims now in Oklahoma’s 2024 class, he immediately becomes a top five overall prospect. And in another ranking update, Sims holds on to the #2 spot behind Okoye as the two defensive linemen have headlined this class for a few ranking updates now. Sims has been an impressive looking prospect since early on in his high school career. Like Okoye, he hasn’t looked like a high school football player for a few years. He’s always one of the more physically impressive looking athletes on the football field and when he’s lining up at defensive tackle, he can absolutely wreck shop up front and cause a lot of problems for opposing offensive linemen and the running game as a whole. A little over a month ago, Sims announced his commitment to Oregon after several visits this offseason.

and these two guys are hands down the top overall prospects in the state’s 2024 class. Not only are they top Oklahoma prospects, they are true national prospects, with offers from top college programs all over the country. Sims will be in a similar role to Okoye where he’ll play tight end for one of the C4 teams but he’s also shown in previous tournaments that he can turn around and play a little linebacker. Watching a big man like Sims run is going to be fun to watch.

after he moved up to Oklahoma from Texas last summer. Ever since he was a freshman, Sims was considered one of the top prospects at his position and he eventually emerged as a true national prospect. Sims has always looked the part and passed the eye test, even when he was a freshman in high school. Sims has only improved from that standpoint as he continues to get bigger and incredibly stronger. Sims completely took away the middle of the line of scrimmage last season, in his first year with Durant. And even though the Lions struggled on the scoreboard, Sims was still a problem every single week. His strength can’t be stopped and he’s also too quick for most offensive linemen. He’s one of the best defensive tackle prospects to come out of Oklahoma in a few years.

In late May, one of the best defensive linemen in Texas moved north of the red river and instantly became one of the top defensive linemen in Oklahoma and one of the top overall prospects in the state’s 2024 class. Durant defensive lineman

is right there with Okoye at NOAH as the state’s top overall prospects. There isn’t much that separates the two of them. Like Okoye, Sims is a national prospect and is only getting better and better every time he steps on the field. We first checked out Sims in person when he was just 14 years old. It was pretty apparent even then that Sims was on a fast track to being one of the top prospects in the state. While Durant has struggled in the win-loss column this season, Sims has still been a dominating force along the line of scrimmage. He’s a prospect that requires plenty of attention from the offensive line. Whether he’s on the interior or edge of the defensive line, Sims has been causing havoc all year.
