The Trinity League is arguably the best football league in the nation with five of the six teams ranked in the top 50 nationally.

Here is a look at the teams in the Trinity League and a breakdown of all the top players.

JSERRA

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='282761' first='Michael' last='Tollefson'], QB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='406721' first='George' last='Perez'], RB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='942928' first='Clarence' last='Chaney'], LB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='723691' first='Luke' last='Webb'], DE, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'], LB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282706' first='Jake' last='Flores'], OL, Sr.

Analysis: JSerra tied for third place in the Trinity League last season and has a new coach in Victor Santa Cruz who comes down from the college ranks. The Lions also have some new faces on the field in quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='282761' first='Michael' last='Tollefson'] and linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'], two of the highest-ranked juniors in the state. A major strength for JSerra is its three-headed backfield with [player_tooltip player_id='406721' first='George' last='Perez'], Kamar Gabourel and [player_tooltip player_id='780472' first='Sean' last='Morris']. The defense features [player_tooltip player_id='942928' first='Clarence' last='Chaney'] at linebacker and [player_tooltip player_id='723691' first='Luke' last='Webb'] who is one of the top edge rushers in the county. [player_tooltip player_id='406653' first='Logan' last='Christensen'] is a skill player with an offer from BYU, but a lot of the other receivers and defensive backs are question marks. JSerra is a serious contender to be the third place team this season.

MATER DEI

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='683642' first='Elijah' last='Brown'], QB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='147730' first='Brandon' last='Baker'], OL, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='115434' first='Aydin' last='Breland'], DL, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='147719' first='DeAndre' last='Carter'], OL, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282698' first='Jordon' last='Davison'], RB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='282774' first='Nasir' last='Wyatt'], OLB, Jr.

Analysis: Mater Dei has a new head coach in Frank McManus, but the players on the field are largely the game. [player_tooltip player_id='683642' first='Elijah' last='Brown'] is back for his fourth year at quarterback. The three-headed backfield of [player_tooltip player_id='115462' first='Ajon' last='Bryant'], [player_tooltip player_id='282698' first='Jordon' last='Davison'] and [player_tooltip player_id='273546' first='Nate' last='Frazier'] are all back. The offensive line is largely back with [player_tooltip player_id='147719' first='DeAndre' last='Carter'], [player_tooltip player_id='147730' first='Brandon' last='Baker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282776' first='Sione' last='Tohi'] returning. [player_tooltip player_id='683685' first='Marcus' last='Brown'], [player_tooltip player_id='282711' first='Marcus' last='Harris'] and [player_tooltip player_id='115472' first='Jack' last='Ressler'] are back at receiver. The entire defense besides one linebacker is back. [player_tooltip player_id='147715' first='Zabien' last='Brown'] leads the secondary with young talent like [player_tooltip player_id='282734' first='Chuck' last='McDonald III'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282700' first='Daryus' last='Dixson']. [player_tooltip player_id='282774' first='Nasir' last='Wyatt'] is an elite pass rusher and [player_tooltip player_id='195568' first='Tanner' last='Williams'] is back at the other edge. Mater Dei has more returning talent than any other team in the league and is once again a contender to win a national champonship.

ORANGE LUTHERAN

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='282728' first='TJ' last='Lateef'], QB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='723736' first='Jireh' last='Moe'], DL, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='283686' first='Talanoa' last='Ili'], LB, So.; [player_tooltip player_id='780311' first='Auma' last='Jennings'], DL, So.; [player_tooltip player_id='723685' first='AJ' last='Ia'], TE/LB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='283646' first='Marcellous' last='Ryan'], DB, Soph.

Analysis: Orange Lutheran was a very young team last year and still managed to tie for third place in the league standings and make the Division 1 playoffs. [player_tooltip player_id='282728' first='TJ' last='Lateef'] is back at quarterback and the Lancers have depth behind him in [player_tooltip player_id='401215' first='Alex' last='Medyn'] and [player_tooltip player_id='406660' first='John' last='Gazzaniga']. The offensive line is young but good with sophomores [player_tooltip player_id='780266' first='Samuelu' last='Utu'], [player_tooltip player_id='283610' first='Dustin' last='Foisia'] and [player_tooltip player_id='283640' first='Langston' last='Gibson'] in addition to junior [player_tooltip player_id='841046' first='Arion' last='Williams']. The defensive line is also young but loaded with [player_tooltip player_id='780311' first='Auma' last='Jennings'] and [player_tooltip player_id='723736' first='Jireh' last='Moe']. [player_tooltip player_id='283686' first='Talanoa' last='Ili'] led the team in tackles last season and they added Servite transfer [player_tooltip player_id='283599' first='Christian' last='Panapa']. Safeties Wes Barksdale and Nico Marchello will also be big contributors. The Lancers have one of the most challenging schedules in the area, but are another contender for third place.

SANTA MARGARITA

Top players: James Johnson, QB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='283690' first='Trent' last='Mosley'], WR, So.; LeVar Talley, LB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='115437' first='Gage' last='Burnett'], LB, Sr.; Noah Sulick, LB, Sr.

Analysis: Santa Margarita lost a lot of starters on defense due to transfer, but one of the strengths of the team is its edge rushers LeVar Talley and [player_tooltip player_id='115437' first='Gage' last='Burnett']. Noah Sulick will be one of the leading tacklers in the league and the staff is high on junior defensive back Luke Anderson. Servite transfer James Johnson will be the starting quarterback and has an elite receiving corps with [player_tooltip player_id='283690' first='Trent' last='Mosley'], [player_tooltip player_id='976922' first='Sean' last='Embree'] and [player_tooltip player_id='195536' first='Kyle' last='Brody']. The offensive and defensive line has some question marks, but the Eagles should be able to score with just about anybody in the area.

SERVITE

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='406664' first='Leo' last='Hannan'], QB, Jr.; [player_tooltip player_id='723744' first='Quaid' last='Carr'], RB, Jr.; Quinn Rosenkranz, WR, Sr.; Aidan O'Callaghan, TE, Sr., Beau Jako, S, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='270921' first='Ethan' last='Naudin'], WR, Jr.

Analysis: Servite had its worst season in school-history last season, but were strong on the lower levels. [player_tooltip player_id='406664' first='Leo' last='Hannan'] is the quarterback and he has an offer from San Diego State. He has some nice targets to throw to in Quinn Rosenkranz, Aidan O'Callaghan and [player_tooltip player_id='270921' first='Ethan' last='Naudin']. [player_tooltip player_id='723744' first='Quaid' last='Carr'] was one of the leading rushers in the league last year and should have another big year. The offensive and defensive lines are young, but there is promise there with [player_tooltip player_id='618154' first='Nathan' last='Stevens'] and [player_tooltip player_id='401239' first='Diego' last='Young']. Servite will be better than they were last season, but may be a year away from contending with the other teams in the league.

ST. JOHN BOSCO

Top players: [player_tooltip player_id='115432' first='Marcelles' last='Williams'], CB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='115443' first='Kyngstonn' last='Viliamu-Asa'], LB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='115433' first='Peyton' last='Woodyard'], S, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='398389' first='Cameron' last='Jones'], RB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='115469' first='Jordan' last='Lockhart'], LB, Sr.; [player_tooltip player_id='273572' first='Khmori' last='House'], LB, Sr.

Analysis: St. John Bosco is the defending national champion and has a plethora of returning talent. The linebacking corps of [player_tooltip player_id='115443' first='Kyngstonn' last='Viliamu-Asa'], [player_tooltip player_id='273572' first='Khmori' last='House'] and [player_tooltip player_id='115469' first='Jordan' last='Lockhart'] is the best I have ever seen at the high school level. The secondary has two D1 commits at cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='115432' first='Marcelles' last='Williams'] (USC) and Frankie Edwards (Idaho). [player_tooltip player_id='115433' first='Peyton' last='Woodyard'] is committed to Alabama at safety. The receiving corps is young but deep with [player_tooltip player_id='209113' first='Madden' last='Williams'], [player_tooltip player_id='398478' first='Stacy' last='Dobbins'], [player_tooltip player_id='283605' first='Daniel' last='Odom'] and [player_tooltip player_id='115470' first='Tommy' last='Maher']. Bosco also added Mayfair receiver [player_tooltip player_id='270895' first='Owen' last='Tomich'] who adds even more depth. Running back is also deep with [player_tooltip player_id='398389' first='Cameron' last='Jones'], [player_tooltip player_id='115464' first='Chauncey' last='Sylvester'] and [player_tooltip player_id='147723' first='Khalil' last='Warren']. The offensive line lacks star power, but [player_tooltip player_id='273573' first='King' last='Large'] is committed to SMU and they also have underrated [player_tooltip player_id='733616' first='Matthew' last='Perdue'] and Maddux Sorensen. Once again it will be Mater Dei and St. John Bosco competing for a national title.
