This is a fun one; regardless of their graduating class, who are the top 25 players in New York? Well, I put together a list of the top players and just a little acknowledgment that this is my list is important. This is my opinion on the top 25, and anyone is more than welcome to debate it or release their own. However, there has not been a time when there is this much talent in New York, and I think it is fair to showcase how well the state is doing in terms of building its reputation for having quality recruits, which takes years to do.

What are there criteria? Well, its equal parts film evaluation and recruiting offers and interest with a little bit of natural advantage to the 2024s, who have more film and more opportunity to get recruited with their age.

I do not want this to drag on so only some players will get their own analysis and others will be grouped.

6-10 Analysis

At #6 there is speedster [player_tooltip player_id='241127' first='Josiah' last='Brown'] who many sites have as a WR/ATH but I think could play S or CB as his position at the next level. He has offers from just about everyone and has a big fall this upcoming season where there will be a lot of pressure on him to "carry" this Holy Trinity team as they jump to CHSFL AAA from AA1, a jump that is much more difficult than your usual class jump anywhere else in the state.

There is a clear run on 2024s here, as a lot of these guys have been recruited for years and have years of very quality tape. [player_tooltip player_id='277897' first='Samuel' last='Madu'] and [player_tooltip player_id='241143' first='Aaris' last='Bethea'] are just behind Brown in the 2024 rankings, and that trio is essentially interchangeable in any of their spots as top prospects. Bethea leads the line, with [player_tooltip player_id='241147' first='Caden' last='Brown'] contributing to the most horrified week PSAL OCs will face while Madu leads a talented Stepinac Defense into a season where they could be CHSFL favorites.

Cubberly got some good breakdown under his name while [player_tooltip player_id='450487' first='Jaylin' last='Hicks'] rounds us out and has easily become one of my favorite players to watch on tape and has a really good ceiling as a prospect.

11-15

A run on some of the younger players available for this as Freshman Phenom [player_tooltip player_id='410677' first='De'Mari' last='Clemons'] from Bennett comes in at #11. Clemons has some legit offers and good interest from most P5 programs and could be another 2026 from New York with some stars next to his name when 247 drops their rankings. Some uncertainty about where Clemons will play his HS ball and the fact that his measurables till need to improve is why he was not pushed up to the single digits.

[player_tooltip player_id='434415' first='Blake' last='Belin'] is the top DL in 2025 with several P5 offers, meaning that DL from the next three classes are all represented, showcasing New York's talent in the trenches. There are some words about [player_tooltip player_id='505386' first='Lyrick' last='Samuel'], who I am VERY high on, whose recruitment just burst open. We finish out with [player_tooltip player_id='303870' first='Syair' last='Torrence'], a silky smooth route runner from Syracuse who has all the northeast P5s except for PSU and is a name to watch. Belin has the athleticism and arm talent to compete with those quarterbacks listed above and he even could be the quickest and fastest of the group. Belin has elite escapability and can make plays out of nothing. More consistency and working on his rhythm and timing will be important but Belin has some good offers and even more interest as a ton of eyes are on his development into a more refined passer to work alongside his big play ability.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["342711"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"mode":"edit","alignText":"left","anchor":"acf-block-64712822f40cd"} /-->
16-20 Analysis

Another 2026 leads us off as [player_tooltip player_id='505856' first='Messiah' last='Hampton'] continues to show why he is one of the best players in the state at every offseason 7v7 he participates in. Thomas could rival [player_tooltip player_id='241127' first='Josiah' last='Brown'] as one of the fastest players in the state and consistently was a top performer for a AA Bennett State Championship team, where his best play came in the most crucial part of the season. Thomas has 3 FCS offers and an offer from Akron, while Clark has an offer from Buffalo but has been receiving interest from the top P5 programs in the northeast.

Belin is QB1 on this list and got some words under his name while we round out the top 20 with [player_tooltip player_id='342711' first='Matthias' last='Lighten'], who is a stud on both sides of the ball for Moore Catholic and has stacked more FCS and G5 offers than nearly anyone in New York.

21-25 Analysis

[player_tooltip player_id='505380' first='Terron' last='Johnson'], the CB out of Iona Prep, kicks us off at 21 and has had a strong May with a few P5 offers, including his first from Syracuse. He is followed by [player_tooltip player_id='399901' first='Tyrell' last='Simmons'], who looks to be the best WR coming out of Rochester since Earnest Edwards (His WR coach) came out of Aquinas and dominated at Maine. Simmons has a bunch of FCS opportunities, but I think he could end up on the G5 level or even maybe with a couple of P5 looks as he pairs up with a new and very high-potential QB this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='788665' first='Roosevelt' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='604471' first='Tyrone' last='Davis'] continue the theme of very large, talented offensive linemen in New York that appear on your radar one day, only for DI schools to come calling a couple of weeks later. Some words on Davis specifically are above, but Mitchell is a stud who I actually came across thanks to a Twitter reply. He plays in Class C, which is very low, but nearly everywhere he visits gets offered because he has the body type and athleticism that translates to the D1 level.

[player_tooltip player_id='505532' first='Isaiah' last='Vanterpool'] finishes us out, and I have toyed with Vanterpool's positioning a little bit. Formerly listed as a DB, he is one of those S/LB hybrids and does a lot of work around the LOS. Because colleges are so good at adding weight to kids, I think he is the 5th DB on the field for most teams where he plays in the box or even could play LB in a 3-3-5 or 3-4/4-3 base system if any college out there still runs it. Vanterpool has a nose for the ball and when I saw him play was one of the best players on the field amongst a talented group when Moore Catholic played Holy Trinity in the CHSFL AA1 Final this past fall.

BONUS 30 (Including the C/O 2023)

1 [player_tooltip player_id='284082' first='Preston' last='Carey'], St. Anthony's 2026

2 [player_tooltip player_id='120010' first='Korey' last='Duff Jr'], St. Anthony's 2024

3 [player_tooltip player_id='241147' first='Caden' last='Brown'], Erasmus Hall 2024

4 [player_tooltip player_id='521455' first='Marcus' last='Harrison'], St. Francis 2024

5 [player_tooltip player_id='286675' first='Rowan' last='Byrne'], Iona Prep 2025

6 [player_tooltip player_id='241877' first='Dante' last='Torres'], St. Anthony's 2023

7 [player_tooltip player_id='229890' first='Dillan' last='Fontus'], Canarsie 2023

8 [player_tooltip player_id='233599' first='Ajani' last='Sheppard'], Iona Prep 2023

9 [player_tooltip player_id='231157' first='Ian' last='Strong'], St. Anthony's 2023

10 [player_tooltip player_id='241127' first='Josiah' last='Brown'], Holy Trinity 2024

11 [player_tooltip player_id='229895' first='Tayvon' last='Nelson'], Canarsie 2023

12 [player_tooltip player_id='277897' first='Samuel' last='Madu'], Archbishop Stepinac 2024

13 [player_tooltip player_id='241143' first='Aaris' last='Bethea'], Erasmus Hall 2024

14 [player_tooltip player_id='444366' first='Colin' last='Cubberly'], Arlington 2024

15 [player_tooltip player_id='232912' first='Zyian' last='Moultrie-Goddard'], Iona Prep 2023

16 [player_tooltip player_id='450487' first='Jaylin' last='Hicks'], Iona Prep 2024

17 [player_tooltip player_id='410677' first='De'Mari' last='Clemons'], Bennett 2026

18 [player_tooltip player_id='366607' first='Rashard' last='Perry'], Bennett 2023

19 [player_tooltip player_id='434415' first='Blake' last='Belin'], Cardinal Hayes 2025

20 [player_tooltip player_id='505386' first='Lyrick' last='Samuel'], Erasmus Hall 2025

21 [player_tooltip player_id='303870' first='Syair' last='Torrence'], CBA-Syracuse 2024

22 [player_tooltip player_id='451483' first='Ja'Meer' last='Thomas'], Bennett 2024

23 [player_tooltip player_id='343476' first='David' last='Clement'], CBA-Albany 2023

24 [player_tooltip player_id='436159' first='Deondre' last='Johnson'], Newburgh 2023

25 [player_tooltip player_id='402273' first='Tyshawn' last='Bent'], Tottenville 2026

26 [player_tooltip player_id='505856' first='Messiah' last='Hampton'], Monroe 2026

27 [player_tooltip player_id='390762' first='Jahyden' last='Clark'], Canisius 2025

28 [player_tooltip player_id='606298' first='Rich' last='Belin'], Cardinal Hayes 2025

29 [player_tooltip player_id='367395' first='Jayden' last='Lewis'], Bennett 2023

30 [player_tooltip player_id='233606' first='Jean' last='Louis III'], Canarsie 2023
