This is a fun one; regardless of their graduating class, who are the top 25 players in New York? Well, I put together a list of the top players and just a little acknowledgment that this is my list is important. This is my opinion on the top 25, and anyone is more than welcome to debate it or release their own. However, there has not been a time when there is this much talent in New York, and I think it is fair to showcase how well the state is doing in terms of building its reputation for having quality recruits, which takes years to do.

What are there criteria? Well, its equal parts film evaluation and recruiting offers and interest with a little bit of natural advantage to the 2024s, who have more film and more opportunity to get recruited with their age.

I do not want this to drag on so only some players will get their own analysis and others will be grouped.

You already heard why [player_tooltip player_id='284082' first='Preston' last='Carey'] is my #1, I think after that, although I did not love that it was back to back the same team [player_tooltip player_id='120010' first='Korey' last='Duff Jr'] the obvious #1 player in NY in 2024, had to be next. Not many names got hotter over the summer and he went from a local P5 recruit to one of the hottest names amongst ACC schools.

After Duff Jr it had to be [player_tooltip player_id='241147' first='Caden' last='Brown'], who realistically is the only player who could challenge [player_tooltip player_id='120010' first='Korey' last='Duff Jr'] for that number 1 spot this fall. I think those rankings are set in stone, but [player_tooltip player_id='241147' first='Caden' last='Brown'] has shown on the field he is a nightmare for offense and offensive coaches.

At #6 there is speedster [player_tooltip player_id='241127' first='Josiah' last='Brown'] who many sites have as a WR/ATH but I think could play S or CB as his position at the next level. He has offers from just about everyone and has a big fall this upcoming season where there will be a lot of pressure on him to "carry" this Holy Trinity team as they jump to CHSFL AAA from AA1, a jump that is much more difficult than your usual class jump anywhere else in the state.

There is a clear run on 2024s here, as a lot of these guys have been recruited for years and have years of very quality tape. [player_tooltip player_id='277897' first='Samuel' last='Madu'] and [player_tooltip player_id='241143' first='Aaris' last='Bethea'] are just behind Brown in the 2024 rankings, and that trio is essentially interchangeable in any of their spots as top prospects. Bethea leads the line, with [player_tooltip player_id='241147' first='Caden' last='Brown'] contributing to the most horrified week PSAL OCs will face while Madu leads a talented Stepinac Defense into a season where they could be CHSFL favorites.

[player_tooltip player_id='451483' first='Ja'Meer' last='Thomas'] and [player_tooltip player_id='390762' first='Jahyden' last='Clark'] are back-to-back ATHs out of Buffalo who have elite athleticism, and while they may lack the P5 offers of some of the other guys on this list, that comes more from their lack of exposure being in Buffalo and not their ability. Thomas could rival [player_tooltip player_id='241127' first='Josiah' last='Brown'] as one of the fastest players in the state and consistently was a top performer for a AA Bennett State Championship team, where his best play came in the most crucial part of the season.
[player_tooltip player_id='505380' first='Terron' last='Johnson'], the CB out of Iona Prep, kicks us off at 21 and has had a strong May with a few P5 offers, including his first from Syracuse. He is followed by [player_tooltip player_id='399901' first='Tyrell' last='Simmons'], who looks to be the best WR coming out of Rochester since Earnest Edwards (His WR coach) came out of Aquinas and dominated at Maine. Simmons has a bunch of FCS opportunities, but I think he could end up on the G5 level or even maybe with a couple of P5 looks as he pairs up with a new and very high-potential QB this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='788665' first='Roosevelt' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='604471' first='Tyrone' last='Davis'] continue the theme of very large, talented offensive linemen in New York that appear on your radar one day, only for DI schools to come calling a couple of weeks later. Some words on Davis specifically are above, but Mitchell is a stud who I actually came across thanks to a Twitter reply. He plays in Class C, which is very low, but nearly everywhere he visits gets offered because he has the body type and athleticism that translates to the D1 level.

[player_tooltip player_id='505532' first='Isaiah' last='Vanterpool'] finishes us out, and I have toyed with Vanterpool's positioning a little bit. Formerly listed as a DB, he is one of those S/LB hybrids and does a lot of work around the LOS. Because colleges are so good at adding weight to kids, I think he is the 5th DB on the field for most teams where he plays in the box or even could play LB in a 3-3-5 or 3-4/4-3 base system if any college out there still runs it. Vanterpool has a nose for the ball and when I saw him play was one of the best players on the field amongst a talented group when Moore Catholic played Holy Trinity in the CHSFL AA1 Final this past fall.
