The explosive playmaker accumulated 3,181 yards from scrimmage and 38 touchdowns in his time on varsity. He is incredibly fast with exceptional hands. Ja’Meer plays football with a sixth sense that cannot be taught. At times, it appeared defenders were playing in slow motion around him. Thomas has quick feet and is a great route runner. This is a special player with a bright future. The 1st Team All State RB/WR will be taking his talents to Syracuse University for the 2024 season.

Thomas now has offers from Maine and Akron and I would expect that to be just the start for one of the fastest playmakers in the state.

Ja’Meer Thomas Ja’Meer Thomas 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Bennett | 2024 State NY was a standout on a loaded Bennett State Championship team in 2022 and there were often games where he looked like the best player on a team that fielded a Buffalo signee, Syracuse signee in 2023, and a 2026 with multiple D1 offers. Thomas has elite speed, and if not for top 24′ Josiah Brown Josiah Brown 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Malverne | 2024 State NY from Long Island would likely be the fastest player in the state. Thomas has great tape on both sides of the ball, as a receiver using his speed and quickness to create seperation and as a defensive back using really good defensive instincts and ball skills to make plays on the ball.  Last January, Thomas received in offer from Akron but I have not seen anything on the recruiting front since. Should be one of the best players coming out of New York in the class of 2024.

Thomas has elite speed and has perhaps the most dangerous cutting ability in the state. Thomas plays mostly on offense but is the type of player who you will find ways to feed the ball. Out of the backfield, in the return game, as a receiver, Thomas gets the ball in multiple different ways and is a playmaker in space. Thomas has so many reps where he goes nearly untouchable either for touchdowns or out of bounds while being pursured by multiple defenders. As a receiver, Thomas has really strong ability to track balls down field and make difficult catches on long throws. Thomas also is a really solid route runner where his quickness and ability to make very precise cuts helps him create seperation. Thomas has speed over everyone but adding some more physicality to his game in terms of blocking or breaking tackles would give him some more diverse tape. And while most of his talent is showcased on offense he does have some really impressive plays at CB where he is a little raw in coverage but athleticism and ball skills make him dangerous to target.

Dominant on both sides of the ball Thomas is dangerous both with the ball in his hands and has a playmaker on the defensive side. As a defensive back Thomas is incredible talented in coverage. He stays in-stride with receivers down the field and has the speed and explosiveness to be very aggressive as a defender. On the offensive side of the ball Thomas’ speed is just too much for teams to handle. A really solid route runner down the field Thomas is a dangerous deep threat but also has the twitch and short area acceleration to create yards after the catch and gain positive yards in traffic.

Thomas had a 25-yard yard touchdown reception and that was largely his only offensive action of the day which was a little uncharacteristic for one of the fastest athletes in New York. However, just how Jayden Lewis Jayden Lewis 6'0" | 190 lbs | ATH Bennett | 2023 State NY dominated on offense and Thomas was his compliment the opposite could be said for the defensive side of the ball. Ja’Meer Thomas Ja’Meer Thomas 5'10" | 170 lbs | WR Bennett | 2024 State NY made two electric plays on the defensive side of the ball with an 80-yard fumble recovery return for a touchdown which completely killed any early momentum that Newburgh Academy had on one of their lone solid drives. Thomas followed that up with an really impressive INT bringing his involvement in turnover plays to two. Thomas may have not had the type of offensive day we are used to because of the way this game went but man Thomas is making a case for being one of the best athletes in the class of 2024.
