Anything I say about Atkinson will just be a broken record at this point. He is regarded as one of the best players in the country, and for good reason. This is part of a recent story on Atkinson from PRZ Scout Elise Benton:
“When you talk about tone-setters on defense,

is the name that echoes across the state — and the nation. The #7 linebacker in the country, #1 in Georgia, and a 5-star force according to 24/7 Sports, Atkinson was a nightmare for opposing offenses last season. With 77 solo tackles and 89 assisted, his production jumps off the stat sheet — but it’s the intensity, speed, and football IQ he brings to the field that make him elite. Named MaxPreps National Junior of the Year, Atkinson isn’t just returning as a leader — he’s returning as a certified game-changer. The heart of the 6A champs’ defense is back, and he’s got one thing on his mind: finishing the mission again.”

Obviously, Atkinson is a player who already has jaw dropping stats at the linebacker position but in his senior campaign, it could be a historic one. With the speed that Atkinson plays with along with the physicality and smarts, he can really set, and break records this year in Georgia.

has almost 500 tackles and 30 sacks. He’s a tackling machine, a pass rushing the passer magician off the edge and he is extremely versitile by being able to play on the inside or outside at the linebacker position. Atkinson’s career so far speaks for it’s own but he’s got an entire year ahead of him left in the high school ranks. We all know the tremendous player and athlete he is but let’s spotlight also what will make him a star at the next level aside from his ability. Atkinson holds a high standard of leadership and character along with him. The way he leads and treats his teammates and coaches are a huge asset that stands out and initially is what makes him even more special. A massive year is set ahead for the #1 LB and every program in the Country will be keeping close tabs on Atkinson.

, the #1 linebacker in the state of Georgia on film is impressive enough but seeing him in person takes it to an entirely different level. His film jumps off the screen—sideline-to-sideline speed, violent hands, and an instinctive ability to diagnose plays before they even develop. But under the lights, he’s even more dominant. He moves like a safety but hits like a defensive lineman, flying around the field and making plays that most high school linebackers simply can’t. Whether it’s stuffing the run, dropping into coverage, or coming off the edge as a pass rusher, he does it all at an elite level. The hype surrounding him is real, and it’s no surprise that he now holds over 50 Division I offers from the biggest programs in the country.
What sets him apart isn’t just his athleticism—it’s his motor, intelligence, and sheer physicality. On film, you can see his ability to shed blocks with ease and explode into ball carriers, but in person, you feel the impact of every hit. He commands the defense, reading the offense pre-snap and adjusting to whatever is thrown his way. His presence alone changes games, forcing offenses to game plan around him, yet he still finds ways to disrupt and dominate. Simply put, he is exactly as advertised—one of the most complete linebackers to come through Georgia in years, and with over 50 offers in hand, the entire country knows it too.

The #1 overall player in the 2026 class showed why this week. Atkinson was a terror in the backfield in the Rams 38-24 upset win over #1 Carrollton. He had 8 TT 3 TFLs and sacked Lewis twice on the night. Phenomenal athlete with great natural instincts.
Outlook: National recruit that will be able to pick his spot. Has the potential to be a future Sunday player.

Atkinson is a highly athletic edge who plays with a strong motor from snap to snap; brings explosiveness and urgency to the defense. Active with his hands to work his way through traffic. Plays with discipline, remembering his responsibilities in the team’s run fits. Able to chase down opponents from the backside. A pretty dangerous pass-rusher who regularly varies his approach. Gets good extension with his arms and shows solid leg drive after contact, allowing him to convert speed to power better than anticipated.
