Harris has been overlooked in the middle of a loaded defense and LB group over the last few years, and it finally seems like the buzz is starting to come around. For us at PRZ, he has long been at the center of our attention. Harris is disruptive, strong, instinctual, all the sounding alarms of an FBS LB prospect. The major offers are starting to roll in, and I think there’s a chance Harris absolutely explodes this fall, and P4 programs agree.
As one of his teammates said to me after Eli Harris made a big hit in practice, “See, that’s one boy you don’t gotta worry about being ready to go. He’s always ready to play.” I couldn’t agree with that more. Harris was selected to the Georgia Future Stars for the second year in a row and he’s a kid that should see offers start to roll in pretty quickly in the next couple months. He’s up to 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds and was noticeably leaner from a year ago. Selected captain two years in a row, and undoubtedly a leader. Has already camped at Auburn and Georgia. Get very, very familiar.
A 6-foot tweener who can get it down standing up or in a 3 point stance. With his Linebacker experience, in fact he played the position last year as seventh grader on the Georgia Future Stars team, you can see how comfortable he is in space and fighting through pullers to get to the ball. His stats consist of TFL’s (tackle for loss) because of his hustle and or double moves that is credited to his determination. Don’t overlook his ability to fall into coverage and disrupt bubble screens. He could cause fits coming off that edge rushing and/or disguising coverages.
Had the opportunity to see Harris live for a week this summer and I became a big fan almost instantly. At 6-foot and 190 pounds, he’s a big, thick Mike Linebacker that plays the position at an advanced level right now. Has a high school-ready body right now and carries his weight proportionally. Thick lower body allows for him to have power and burst at the point of contact. Understands the importance of taking on blocks and filling holes, which may not always result in him making the tackle, but allows for his teammates to make a stop. Won’t show up in the stat sheets, but certainly a quiet leader that leads by example on the field.
