had his worst game of the season, but stats don’t tell the full story in the Redskins’ gutty 14-13 victory over George Washington in the first round of the playoffs. The senior quarterback is having an overall tremendous season but hurt his ankle against Martinsburg in the regular season finale which is still hampering his play. Playing at probably 50% or less, Vellaithambi struggled to step into his throws during the game due to his injury and couldn’t take off to run as he typically does. However, when his team needed him most, he rose to the occasion on the final drive of the game down 13-7 with two minutes to go and needing 98 yards to get the win. Vellaithambi showed guts and the “It” factor on the final drive ending with a strike to classmate

has been nothing short of dominant this season for the Redskins and appears to be the favorite to win the Kennedy Award as the state’s top player if he finishes the season strong.
Vellaithambi has been electric with his arm and his legs this season throwing for 1,700 yards and 23 touchdowns to pair with 700 rushing yards and 12 more scores. He hasn’t missed a beat since transitioning back to quarterback and has continued to be a dynamic runner from his time at running back last season. Vellaithambi is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses given his high-level versatility as an athlete who is a very good defender in his own right as well. We’re looking forward to seeing which D1 program receives his services on Signing Day this winter as one of the state’s best athletes the past few seasons.

as the Redskins’ offense exploded in a high flying 63-48 win over Spring Valley. Vellaithambi plays with a level of consistency that may cause some to overlook his weekly dominance but that’s why he has numerous D1 programs trying to earn his signature come Signing Day. He showed his typical dual-threat prowess with nearly 250 passing yards and 2 touchdowns with another 130 yards and 3 touchdowns as a runner. Expect to see him put up big stat lines each week against some talented teams on Hurricane’s loaded schedule.

settled back in at quarterback for the Redskins in a tough week one opener against one of the top teams in the state with Huntington and gave them all they could handle in a narrow 38-35 loss. He was dynamic with his arm and his legs proving he was one of the best athletes on the field Friday night and a Top 5 player in his class. Vellaithmabi looked poised in the pocket like the seasoned veteran that he is and was very efficient passing and running the ball making every attempt count. He made his impact on defense as well and it will be hard to take him off the field this season as a do-it-all athlete who will be a Kennedy Award contender.

opened eyes last season as a running back for the Redskins after a one-year hiatus at quarterback but will return as QB1 for the Redskins this season. He showed off his athletic versatility in a huge way as a junior rushing for 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns Vellaithambi is the true definition of an ATH prospect who can also play defensive back but don’t let that mistake you into thinking he doesn’t have the arm talent to play quarterback at the D1 level either. We saw it during his sophomore season when he originally garnered D1 interest as well as in person at our PRZ WV Combine earlier this year and will likely see it again in his senior year.
Vellaithambi is a Top 5 player in the 2025 class for a reason and a rare talent in the state with tremendous overall athleticism.

certainly needs no introduction if you’re familiar with WV high school football. He ranks as our #1 ATH in the 2025 class and a Top 5 prospect right now after a tremendous season playing running back for the Redskins but will be transitioning back to quarterback for the upcoming season and competed there at the Combine. The talented junior didn’t need to prove himself anymore than he already has while posting numerous D1 offers to date but still didn’t miss the chance to compete with some of the state’s best and earned himself QB Top Performer honors.
He looked the part in person and showed us why he’s so highly thought of by colleges around the region and why we consider him a Top 5 prospect in the class.

. Vellaithambi continued his explosion from the 2023 season onto the 2024 recruiting trail as he picked up three more D1 FBS offers from Toledo, App State, and in-state Marshall. It’s tough for much movement to be had inside the Top 5 at this point in the rankings cycle, but Vellaithambi is still climbing and fighting for an even higher ranking. He also earned another invite to the much acclaimed Elite 11 regionals as he transitions back to quarterback after a year hiatus. A great college camp season and a huge senior year may have P4 schools sniffing around and potentially offering after showing great versatility as an ATH in 2023 with positional options for the next level.

only moved up one spot but he can now say that he’s a Top 5 player in the 2025 class and now ranks as the #5 player in the rankings. Vellaithambi was previously ranked as a QB after a successful sophomore season for the Redskins but moved to running back this year when 2024 QB

transferred back to WV for his senior year. It took a couple of weeks for Hurricane to really figure out how to use Vellaithambi in his new role but he quickly got going and never looked back. He rushed for 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns at his new position and even had 26 tackles on defense. Vellaithambi was a unanimous First Team All-State selection by PRZ WV and the WVSWA this season, First Team All-Conference, and the Kanawha Valley Player of the Year. He showcased how versatile of an athlete he is this season but I fully expect him to be QB1 again next year. I have complete confidence in his quarterback abilities so he may eventually switch back to that position in the rankings. He’s a D1 prospect that was able to show he can play more than one position at the next level which should make him an even more intriguing prospect to colleges.
