is a menace at the defensive end position. He does a great job pass-rushing and makes moves against offensive linemen. He is a match-up nightmare for offensive linemen because of his size and strength. Roman Catholic better have a plan on how to block him, or he can take over the game.

Not sure if there is another prospect who raised their stock higher this weekend, this taking into account all six games covered at the York Rose Bowl. Bishop McDevitt recorded for 8 sacks on the day, at least 4-5 of which were accounted for by senior linebacker

. 6’3, 220, build looked good in person. Looked like an FCS prospect, played like an FBS one. Lawler showed off a motor that wouldn’t stop revving, seemingly getting faster and more upfield penetration as the game progressed. Pass-rushers usually cool off as the game chugs along, Lawler was a consistent force until the final whistle blew. Aligned at OLB, could have done damage with his hand on or off the dirt in this one. Bishop McDevitt would call inside stunts for Lawler, the set creating at least three sacks. What’s best, Lawler still created sacks on his own, with no need of misdirection or stunt. You can say Lawler also dished out numerous pass-rush styles when one-on-one with the opposing tackle. Flexing speed rush bends and push-pull moves at his leisure, Lawler looked like the best player on a defense loaded with stars.

is a good defensive player for Bishop McDevitt. He can be moved around the field, to help the defense in any match-up. He has a natural ability to rush the passer. He does a good job of exploding off the edge and using his athletic ability to put pressure on the offense. He had an eye-popping 11 sacks last year and created many other pressures on the quarterbacks. He is also good against the run by making a ton of plays in the backfield. Lawler is a highly skilled dynamic defensive lineman.

‘ historic freshman season at McDevitt, there isn’t much to be said about the young man that hasn’t already been said. Can he replicate his statistical performance from last Fall? The answer is yes, of course. Does he have to? No. Does Saunders have areas of his game that need improvement? Of course. Somehow, one of the more prolific freshman passers in the state’s history gets questioned far too often. One thing’s for certain, Bishop McDevitt can win a State Title with this kid at the helm. What’s exciting is to think of his potential improvements. There is no gradable ceiling for Saunders at this time, the state’s top-ranked quarterback will have coaching staffs across the nation watching.

. We can project and say both of these prospects have bright futures ahead of them at BMD. I’m more interested in seeing how they can contribute to the goal of a 2022 State Title. The roster is loaded, yet both Scott and Lawler could surprise some and earn real tick this Fall. Both ranks are preliminary.
