Georgia Tech commit Jeremy “JJ” Winston is one of the state’s best wide outs and he eclipsed the thousand-yard mark in his senior campaign. Winston has the height, the hands and the running ability to break a game wide open. He is extremely athletic with a speed that turns up once the ball is in his hands. He is an absolute nightmare to cover, and he gets behind defensive backs with what seems like ease. Winston is also one of the best punt and kick returners in the state. Winston was strong in the first-round matchup against Lovejoy with six receptions and 180 yards receiving and multiple touchdowns. He’s one talent of many for Rome to watch for.
Winston, a Georgia Tech commit, is one of my favorite 2026 prospects in Georgia, regardless of position. Winston is a tall, loose basketball athlete with the movement skills to activate each level of the field. He tracks the ball well over his shoulder and has no problem getting behind safeties. He does all of this on a lean, thin frame. With some seasoning and time to add weight, I think Winston has the potential to blossom into a consistent contributor at the next level.
The big time target out of Rome just committed to take his talents to the Flats at Georgia Tech this week and it’s only clear as to why the Jackets wanted Winston. The two-sport star is a complete issue for defenses standing at 6’4 and able to catch and run with the best of them. He averaged 20+ a catch last season and he looks to have another monster season this year before heading to Bobby Dodd in Atlanta.
A player that certainly doesn’t play underrated and he’s a guy who holds many, many offers. However, when looking at the attention being spread around the state, “JJ” Winston is a guy that should absolutely come up every time. He had a massive spring game putting on display how talented he is and can be. He had a tremendous season last fall, but I do believe Winston will have his biggest year yet. He’s poised for a year to really put the Nation on notice. Winston has many offers but expect him to have a huge season in his final campaign!
A guy who will go and get the ball and win any jump ball situation is JJ Winston. His break away speed on the field is also something that stands out to college coaches because Winston isn’t just a deep ball guy even though he’s averaged 20+ yards per grab, he’s a major threat in the screen game with bubble screens etc. Winston is going to be dangerous this next season!
Winston is a standout basketball player on the hardwood, and it shows on the gridiron as well. It seems as if his jump ball ability catching a deep pass in the secondary comes about from his hops from the court. Winston is an extreme athlete who can catch it and go on top of making the big play downfield. Winston averaged over 20+ yards per catch last season, and he has the speed to get away as shown on his film. Winston holds several D1 offers and will add plenty more. A huge season sits ahead of him in his senior campaign coming up. Spectacular talents at Rome with Winston and Collins, the “Twin Towers.”
