Expert Analysis
Austin Butler | Prep Redzone Scout
Jeremy Ferguson Jr. was a standout running back in the middle school ranks and brought the attention to himself as a guy who could possibly play some during the fall of 2025. However, Ferguson Jr. took it a step further and showed out in spring football entering his freshman year and he never looked back. He was the starting running back and carried a major load of the offense as a freshman in 5A football. This year, Ferguson Jr. will carry more of a load as they enter the 6A class and since Ferguson Jr. has the experience, he will have more on his plate and he is more than ready for it. Ferguson Jr. showed last year, he can run off scrimmage, catch the ball out of the backfield and even throw the blocks when needed. His shifty running style is so smooth and beneficial for his team. He is a smart back with a super high IQ and doesn’t turn the ball over. He knows what is in front of him and he attacks it head on. Ferguson Jr. was also a standout at our Prep Redzone camp. I look for Ferguson Jr. to have an incredible season in 2026; he is one of those special backs in the Peach State.

is someone who obviously is a playmaker in the passing game just as Spivey is and just the same, he can be extremely productive off of scrimmage in the run game. Ferguson looks to have added some size this off-season, and he looks even more comfortable in his role. Not to say he wasn’t last season because he was as comfortable looking as a freshman who started running back in 5A ball as anyone could possibly look. Ferguson Jr. took on a role that most freshman couldn’t handle and he handled it and then some. He was spectacular last year and this year he looks more of a confident leader at the position. Obviously, that comes with his excellent experience and production and that I believe will be massive for the Wolves this season. I look for a big-time spring, summer and fall from the dynamic and all-around Ferguson Jr.

Jeremy Ferguson is one of the better players in the state of Georgia, as he is someone who has done a great job at an early age. Ferguson is very fast and is one of the better players when it comes to being an elusive back. He has also done a great job when it comes to receiving. Ferguson will be one of the better backs if he can develop with his body and measurements. This will be key to his physical features.

was one of the names I anticipated coming into this camp to be big in drills and times. Ferguson Jr. showed why he is going to be a name within the state that is known out of the 2029 class. He is an all-around back who can hurt a defense in more than one or two ways. He plays hard, competes hard and picks up quickly which shows his IQ. He will have a huge off-season leading into a big 2026 season.

Ferguson Jr. is a do it all type of back who can run from scrimmage and catch it out of the backfield. He started for a powerhouse this year as a freshman and helped lead his team to semi-finals run in a tough 5A football playoff bracket. He is someone I feel will have a standout day. He has a lot of ability and can showcase a lot of what he is capable of in the drills.

The Rome running back plays with a chip on his shoulder. He doesn’t just make plays, but he also makes it a point to embarrass people. Ferguson looks like he is shot out of a cannon every time he plays, and he is one of the better running backs when it comes to the elusiveness he brings to the table. Ferguson will look to make even more of a name for himself, but it will be no shock if he begins to be offered following this camp. It will also be key to see how he measures at the event, which is what I am mostly looking forward to.

had one of the most productive years of any freshman running back or even player in Georgia in 2025. Stepping into a big role and handling it like an upper classman, Ferguson Jr. has great patience when running the football off of the line of scrimmage. He is excellent out of the backfield catching the ball and once the ball is in his hands, he just glides through defenses gaining chunk yards. He is a special talent, and you will see why at our PRZ Winter Showcase this weekend!

Ferguson is shifty, and he is growing into a huge player and weapon for a talented Rome team. Ferguson will be one of the top names to know at the event, and many will be paying attention to how he does at the combine, as he is someone who has continued to grow as a prospect. Ferguson is someone many view as a top name in the state for the 2029 class, and I would agree. He will shock a lot of people on Saturday.

is a starting freshman running back who has been extremely consistent this year and has made play after play just about every time he touches the rock. He has been strong out of the backfield catching passes on screens and getting important yards and he has run the ball off of scrimmage very good getting his team big chunk plays. He is a swift runner gliding and weaving his way in and out of defenses and he is a back that will gain big yardage. Look for him to play a critical role in this big match up Friday night in the second round of the GHSA playoffs.

He took advantage of every opportunity he possibly got. He is the most dynamic running back in Georgia in the 2029 class being able to catch out of the backfield and be a dangerous asset on open field and he can run it off of scrimmage and burst through for big gains. He had a spectacular night and put everyone on notice of how good he can be.
