Jayvion “POP” Maldon is a different type of breed when it comes to this 2029 class. Maldon has one of if not the best instincts on the field and has tremendous read and reacting skills of his respected class and position ranking. Maldon stands at 6’2″ 186 and plays the outside linebacker very well and brings that physicality to his defense. This past season he was able to showcase all of his abilities from open field tackling, read and reacting, coverage skills, block shedding and also his elite closing speed. Maldon is a true tone setter for the Loundon Sports Academy and they have done an amazing job with Jayvion but also with their other prospects/players. Next Season Maldon is going to be on everybody watch list due to how much he can cause a gameplan to crumble and be dissected with his amazing awareness.

Jayvion Maldon Jayvion Maldon 6'2" | 200 lbs | LB/ATH Loudoun Sports Academy | 2029 State VA is a beast as a linebacker, as he earned an MVP at the showcase for the linebacker position. He is an outstanding athlete. His ability to run and move is special. His footwork during the showcase was outstanding. He gets in and out of breaks at a high rate. During one-on-one competitions, he dominated. He locked down the running backs by guarding them and taking away their ability to catch the ball. Because he is a 2029 prospect, he has so much talent that he will only improve. I am excited to see his progress.

LB MVP of the day and performed very well in the testing, Had the 8th best 40 time of all campers running a 4.6, while also putting up the the 2nd best overall shuttle time with a 4.54. Jayvion also scored a 7.48 L Drill and 9’3″ SBJ. That is a strong performance alone by Jayvion just on his combine testing. Pair that with a nice frame and length for a 29 Prospect, you can expect Jayvion to fill out will good muscle over the years & be a yoked up long armed LB.

He shined in drill work. Showing rapid footwork and COD ability with burst out and a high motor/work rate. In 1v1s Jayvion was lockdown and really impressed me with his ability to play in space & coverage. He stayed patient and didn’t over commit on routes. Showing stellar balance and control. Knowing when to press up & get physical, jamming RBs at the line and getting them off their routes. As well as knowing when he had to run the route, turn & run to stay in phase on the receivers hips. Jayvion was excellent in making plays on the pass. He routinely made smart and explosive breaks on the ball for PBUs and an INT. Not sure if he lost a single rep in the passing 1v1s with the RBs.

Easily a top LB performer on the day, as well as one of the top overall performers on the day in my mind. A 2029 prospect colleges need to start getting eyes on as he has a bright future.

Playing for Unity Reed as a freshman Maldon had 81 tackles and 4 sacks! Really impressive numbers and he should fit in well in the Timberwolves back 7. The second ranked linebacker in his class, he was a star at our a Spring showcase.

Cannot wait to see what Coach Woods has in store for him with that defense.

The young man is an athletic playmaker, really showed tremendous range and footwork during the 1v1s. I knew he would get some reps at tight end and made the most of his work with that group too, what I didn’t know is how well he would do in the linebacker room. He continues to impress and had the coaches buzzing.

He can play multiple positions and I would expect him to stand out with the wideouts and tight end room. Maldon is 6’1 and 185 lbs., he is very athletic and boasts a 3.2 GPA. His future may be at linebacker where he racked up 81 tackles as a freshmen, so I would not be surprised to watch him go with both groups.

He is fast and a sure fire tackler at linebacker, I can see why they moved him inside to maximize his speed. Already 6’1 and 180 lbs. Maldon has been a reliable target offensively for the Lions. He has good hands and he knows how to box out defenders. When the 2028 rankings come out, do not be surprised to see his name high up on our list.

You will see Maldon line up at defensive end, linebacker, running back and tight end for the Lions in 2024. He looks varsity ready and made some plays in their scrimmage against Fauquier County.
