Washington is a linebacker who does his best work inside of the box. He plays a physical brand of football and shows urgency when coming downhill against the run. I love the fact that Washington meets ball carriers at or behind the line of scrimmage with force and often finishes tackles aggressively by running through them. He is good at pursuing the football and often gets involved in gang tackles and clean-up stops. Would like to see a couple of plays of him in pass coverage, but that’s only because I think he has the tools to be a good pass defender as well.

Washington is a tough, instinctive middle linebacker who currently thrives in run support. He demonstrates range and physicality, serving as a reliable presence in the middle of the defense. He actively pursues the ball and has a great motor. Washington does a good job of both maintaining gap responsibility and making sound tackles.
What I’d like to see from him this upcoming season: As he gets more opportunities, I’d like to see more open-field tackles and see how he is a blitzer. Overall, his highlights show that he consistently scrapes laterally and works through traffic with good pad level and footwork.
