This was one of the first time seeing Jah Jah Boyd work as a real two-way prospect. I was well aware of Boyd’s capabilities as a wideout, yet I always (and still do) view him as a DB. Watching him snatch balls out of the air against great coverage, watching Boyd track the football like he’s been playing wideout for years, watching Boyd outrun other DBs. This was the game that sparked the thought that maybe, Jah Jah Boyd is a top 15 player in the state. People will laugh, people will cringe, but I have had as close a look at the JMU commit as any outside of the Roman Coaching staff. This kid is the best commit James Madison has brought through their building. Other media sites are downplaying just how special this kid is. I’d bet the house on that.

Jah Jah Boyd acts as the highest-ranking prospect brought into the James Madison program since I’ve been covering Pennsylvania. Craziest part is, it’s not that shocking. James Madison has pulled plenty of top 50-100 type prospects over the years, this kid is just a bit different. A top-five ranking for Roman Catholic’s alignment-versatile DB. This is a real Power Five prospect who has presumably fallen in love with what the Dukes can provide. Two-to-three years from now, James Madison is expected to station several former Pennsylvania prospects, with Jah Jah Boyd expecting to set the standard for years to come. One of the hardest working prospects I’ve had the pleasure to watch up close, Boyd has enough potential to be a name to watch in the transfer portal years from now to boot. Sky is the limit.

A ton of the Power Five hype some prospects are receiving, the same love should be thrown Jah Jah Boyd‘s way. Let’s not get it twisted, Boyd is well on ACC and BIG10 radars, his offer count is growing by the week, yet I’m a firm believer that SEC schools should be in on this young man. Taking a recent perspective, Jah Jah Boyd has received offers from Buffalo and Virginia Tech within the last six weeks, adding to an impressive total.

Absolutely love the offseason work this young man has put in. I hope all the development and work on detail comes to light this Fall. Jah Jah Boyd has been a constant eye-opener every time I caught him this Spring/Summer. Boyd should eat at inside corner, he’s got the hips and foot quickness to keep up with many wideouts from an athletic perspective. He can make a name for himself if he can take a step forward in technique.
