Nelson appears to have hit the gym in a big way since his junior season, adding bulk to an already-strong frame, and his hits seem to pack more of a punch.

He tracks the ball well and can put himself in a position to make a play. He can lay out some big hits as well, which force the ball loose. He’s earned 3-stars and currently sits on offers from Wake Forest, Air Force, Bowling Green, and Florida Atlantic who all see the potential.

Making the move from Heritage Christian to Carmel this season is Nelson, who was their leading DB last year. He’s come over to Carmel and been the same player for them this year. Consistent, reliable, and steady down after down. His tackles per game is down, but that’s because the ball isn’t coming his way as often. However, he’s still got 24 tackles and 3 passes deflected through the first half of the season. He’s a big DB with an LB frame and can cover as much ground as anyone, which is why he hangs out in the back.
