About Emanuel

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Physical with quick feet, I am very aggressive and violent with my hands. As a two year starter playing the 3 technique for Carmel High School, I am under sized, so I have to be smarter, more mentally and physically prepared than most. I am a technician in the pass rush. As a Mike backer, I am disruptive and a game changer but have not been allowed to show that ability at this school.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am aggressive, disruptive and unstoppable. I cannot be blocked one on one. Though I am double teamed over 90% of the time by players much larger than me. I shut down teams ability to run inside. I own the A gaps. In 11 games and a 9-2 record, we only allowed 5 rushing TDs the entire season.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in the Josiah ministry and a youth mentor at my church. I serve in the choir and the outreach ministry where we serve the less fortunate by providing prayer, counseling, clothes and food give aways. To see the smile of someone who receives prayers, food or an encouraging word from me is all the reward I need.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have always been a leader. My dad teaches me to be a servant leader. Helping others when and where I can. On the field I am very vocal, encouraging and demanding when my team mates need it. I lead by example, I never quit or I give up.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

No, I would say not really. Other's who know me would say yes. I am so thankfully blessed. I've dealt with sickness, injuries and disappointments, even the divorce of my parents but I have overcome it all through my faith in Christ.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a diverse campus life with an academically sound curriculum. A school with good athletic facilities and support.

Emanuel Griffin shined at the team’s college day last week, and on Saturday, he came ready to play among a stout group of defensive linemen. Griffin is very explosive and twitchy. He has a quick first step, strong leg drive and violent use of hands. Griffin occupies the double team and is a strong point-of-attack defender. A three-year varsity starter, he recently picked up his first offer from Thomas More.

Emanuel really caught my eye during the 1v1’s. He dominated on the interior. Griffin used his low center of gravity and explosive get off to win off the snap. Even more impressive was his ability to fluidly string together pass rush moves. Speed to dip and bend or speed to reverse spin. When he attacked the center of the blocker he showed violent hands.
