The top linebacker tandem in the state in our eyes resides at George Washington with the aforementioned Giacomo and fellow classmate Guner Flores Guner Flores 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV following right behind him as our #2 LB in the 2025 class.

Flores places second on the Patriots’ tackles list with 63 through 8 games as the bigger athlete of the two. He complements Giacomo from the middle of the defense at middle linebacker and is a thumping downhill player. Flores can put a lot of power behind his shoulder pads and rarely allows ball carriers to fall forward. He’s a stout athlete who runs well in his own right with the physicality to shut down inside runs and the athleticism to pursue the ball outside the tackles. Flores has his options at the D1 level as well and looks the part of a prospect for that level on film.

Right behind Giacomo in our 2025 rankings is Guner Flores Guner Flores 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV who is a great complement to him in the middle of the linebacker corps. Flores is a bigger-bodied athlete who fits in well at the Mike with his versatile skillset. He has the athleticism to drop into coverage, the strength to play between the tackles in run support, and the pass-rush ability to harass the quarterback when needed. Flores is a physical player who tackles through ball carriers and does a great job squaring his shoulders and driving. He’s a stout athlete with the strength to disengage from blockers consistently with good pursuit speed to the ball.

He and Giacomo are neck and neck for the top linebacker spot and just a matter of preference for who you prefer as different styles of players.

We’ve been hinting at George Washington potentially having the 2 top-ranked linebackers in the 2025 class and we are finally making that official. Guner Flores Guner Flores 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV now ranks inside the Top 10 and the #2 LB in the class pairing with #1 LB and teammate Hunter Giacomo Hunter Giacomo 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV in the Patriots’ linebacker group. Flores picked up his first D1 offer from App State in February and D1 FCS Eastern Kentucky followed suit as well. I expect that number to increase over time as he makes the college visit rounds during the spring and summer before his senior season. The Top 5 linebackers will be fighting it out for their spots in the rankings until the final rankings come out after next season, but Flores has earned a Top 2 spot and will be battling for that #1 ranking until the finish line.

I made the prediction back at the midseason point of the 2023 season that George Washington would have the best linebacker duo in the state in 2024, and that is looking like that’s confirmed. The second 2025 prospect to receive his first D1 offer from App State in February was Giacomo’s teammate and positionmate Guner Flores Guner Flores 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV . Flores also picked up a second D1 offer from FCS Eastern Kentucky, but I believe his floor is G5 just like Giacomo. Flores is a bigger linebacker than his teammate and currently ranks as the #3 LB in the 2025 class. I’d expect his state ranking to increase during the summer rankings update, and he may jump up to a top 2 LB spot as well. When it’s all said and done, the Patriots may just have the top 2 ranked 2025 linebackers in the state, and the two will be battling it out for that top spot all next season long.

George Washington has a pair of talented junior linebackers in Guner Flores Guner Flores 6'1" | 205 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV and Hunter Giacomo Hunter Giacomo 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB George Washington | 2025 State WV . Flores is the bigger of the two at 6’2 200 and is the middle linebacker for the Patriots. He has a nice combination of physicality and athleticism and does a nice job in both run and pass defense. Flores can come downhill and tackle at the line of scrimmage or drop into coverage and make plays down the field. He’s a hard hitter and stout in run defense but also athletic enough to pursue in space and downfield. Flores also does a nice job disengaging with blockers to make the tackle showing his toughness and strength. Flores and Giacomo will be one of the top 2025 linebacker duos in the state next season.
