The two-way star totaled 1,500 all-purpose yards on offense primarily at quarterback this season and also racked up 133 tackles on defense, with 33 going for a loss. Woods is a well-rounded athlete who can play multiple positions at the next level, which should earn him significant college interest.

Woods is showcasing his high-level potential that we saw from him as a freshman more this season as a junior and has taken the next step as a player. Moving down to linebacker full-time has been a great development for Woods, as he’s also physically grown into the position. Through three games, Woods has totaled 36 tackles, 7 TFLs, 1 INT, and 9 total touchdowns.

He showcased his athletic versatility on both sides of the ball, totaling 123 yards and 3 touchdowns on offense to pair with his 17 tackles, 4 TFLs, and two takeaways on defense. Woods was a heat seeker on defense, playing inside and outside linebacker this season, and did an excellent job reading and reacting.

2027 Riverside DB Tavion Woods Tavion Woods 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Riverside | 2027 State WV earned some accolades as a freshman for the Warriors which included WVSWA Class AAA Honorable Mention All-State, Special Honorable Mention All-MSAC, and All-Kanawha Valley. Woods totaled 86 tackles, 12 TFLs, 3 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in 2023 as primarily a box safety who was very good near the line of scrimmage as a freshman. He attacks with good pursuit speed and is a consistent open-field tackler for a young DB prospect. Woods is a physical and hard-hitting safety who likes to come downhill and pop ball carriers. He showed potential as a back-end safety and is a work in progress in pass coverage but his ability in the box is impressive at this early stage.

If Woods continues this trajectory and develops in pass coverage, he’ll be a D1-level safety prospect by the time he’s a senior.
