2028 DL Elijah Smith has been on our radar since his middle school days but needed some time to physically mature before making his varsity debut for George Washington this season. He’s added considerable size and is now around 6’0 220, allowing him to take reps on the interior of the Patriots’ defensive front. He’s still a little undersized for that spot as a college prospect, so the next two years will be important as we see how his body develops and where he ultimately fits best. Against a physical Spring Valley offensive line, Smith’s quickness off the ball stood out, and he consistently fired off the snap with intent and was strong at the point of attack. His low pad level and leverage helped him disrupt plays, and Smith’s motor showed up on film in week one.
