The Wake Forrest signee was clearly the talk of the GHSA State title games and rightfully so! Christian “Deuce” Lawrence was one special talent all season long, but he broke the rushing record in the state title game going for 380 yards rushing and 5 touchdowns adding 20 yards receiving giving him a 400 total yard performance on the night. Lawrence had a night to remember, and he will take those exceptional talents to Wake Forrest next season.

The lead back for one of the best programs across the state, Lawrence ran wild during the regular season, leading the Yellow Jackets to an undefeated 10-0 record as they enter the playoffs. Lawrence has been a consistent weapon on the ground all year, running for 1,195 yards and 17 touchdowns. He’s averaging an impressive 9.6 yards per carry and 120 yards per game. He hit the 100-yard mark seven times and ran for at least one touchdown in every single game. He was one of the top running backs across South Georgia this fall and will look to end his high school career with a state championship.

Lawrence, the leading rusher for TCCHS, is one of the best senior RBs in the state, and he hasn’t skipped a beat as a senior. He is an elite playmaker in space, both as a rusher and as a receiver. He is quick to his top speed and maintains it to outstride the rest of the defense. Lawrence is explosive, speedy, and a reliable pass catcher out of the backfield. He is a P4 playmaker and is committed to play at Wake Forest.

“Deuce” as he likes to be called, had 356 total yards on Friday v rival and one of the best 5A teams in the State, Lee County. The Wake Forest commit rushed for over 200 yards and had 54 yards receiving, scoring 2 TDs in the 35-21 win.

A physical runner between the tackles with great top end speed. I saw him live last Fall and was impressed with his shiftiness and ability to change direction at full speed. He has great vision and escape ability in traffic.

Projection: Headed to Wake Forest next Fall.

Lawrence is versatile, plays well between the tackles, and is elite in space. He fires out of a cannon when he hits openings and maintains top-end speed while trotting away to the endzone, keeping distance between himself and defenders. Lawrence is shifty enough to create his own yards, but mostly just runs right past defenders with his elite speed. He is a reliable pass catcher out of the backfield, raising his floor and allowing him to stay on the field for every down. He is a touchdown threat from any spot on the field. Lawrence has all the tools to develop into an every-down back once he fully fills out.
