About Roland

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

dual threat QB is a quarterback who can beat defenses with both his arm and his legs. I can throw accurately from the pocket and take off running when needed, making me tough to defend and always a big-play threat.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

A dual threat QB is basically a baller who can torch you through the air and break ankles on the ground. You’ve gotta read the defense fast, drop back for the pass, but always be ready to tuck it and run if the pocket collapses or nobody’s open. It’s all about making plays—sometimes you’re slinging a dime, other times you’re gone before the D even knows what happened. Fast feet! Quick reads!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

FCA, Spanish club, Honor's society

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a quarterback, I’ve grown as a leader by learning to stay calm under pressure, support my teammates, and lead by example. Football has also taught me the importance of teamwork and giving back through community service.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Switching high schools was tough—I had to leave behind my friends, teammates, and everything. On top of that, losing my grandfather in a car accident hit me hard. He was one of my biggest supporters. Dealing with both at the same time was emotionally draining, but it taught me how to stay strong, adapt, and keep pushing forward no matter what.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can compete at a high level, be pushed to get better every day, and grow as both a player and a leader. I want a program that demands excellence and surrounds me with coaches and teammates who bring the same drive and energy.

Waldrop has been a steady riser over the last few years, and whispers this offseason indicate to me that he is a real candidate to emerge this fall. Waldrop is starting to round together and take shape as a QB prospect. He is listed at around 6’2 190, and is well-built into that frame. He stands confidently in the pocket and is capable of twitching around contact in the pocket. He has a longer delivery with natural life on the ball, and he proves capable of pushing the ball vertically even when he can’t fully shift his weight. In the spring game against Auburn, I was really impressed with how he attacked and layered the ball into tough spots over the MOF. In many ways, Waldrop is one of the strongest candidates for a breakout in GA.
