Mallard Creek’s defense has been one of the strongest individual units in the state. Generally a young team, the Mavericks have a few key veteran leaders, and Mustafa has emerged in that role defensively. While his downhill speed isn’t bad, he’s at his best flowing laterally. But, when he gets a head of steam, he can get into the backfield in a hurry.

I thought Askia played pretty well, especially when Mallard Creek was finding some momentum in the 2nd and early third quarters. Askia had a couple of tackles for loss in this game and a sack, showing his overall speed and athleticism from the 2nd level of the defense. Askia has some good film out there, and I like his prospects of playing college football in the future.
