Okam has made a meteoric rise this offseason, climbing all the way to the No. 1 prospect in the 2029 class heading into the season. At around 6’4″, 250+ pounds, he already possesses a rare combination of size, power, explosiveness, and athleticism for his age. He can create pressure off the edge but has the frame and strength to dominate inside as well. Okam has been a standout on the camp circuit, including an impressive showing at the Under Armour NEXT Combine, and his recruitment continues to take off. Simply put, Okam is a can’t-miss defensive prospect with the tools to develop into one of the premier defensive linemen in the region

Okam has the look of one of the more physically dominant defensive linemen in the country. He’s turned heads at various SEC camps and should take a large step forward with his production as a sophomore. He played mostly on the edge as a freshman, but could kick inside full-time, depending on how he develops physically. Either way, offenses will have to account for him on every snap.

Okam is our top overall riser in this update, moving from 47th to sixth in just a few months. In that time, he’s earned an East Carolina offer and gotten even quicker off the edge. He’s a huge, physical edge rusher who could eventually move inside full-time. Make no mistake, wherever he ends up on the defensive line, he has the type of physical ability that can embarrass offensive linemen. On his current trajectory, he could be one of the top defensive linemen recruits in the southeast.

Okam is as physically-imposing a freshman as you’ll ever see, at a true 6’4″ and 250 pounds. He may be a future interior defender, which is where we have him ranked, but he’s turning heads as an edge defender on a young Mallard Creek defense. We’re looking forward to seeing more of the youngster when we deep dive into the film during the offseason.
