remains one of the top defensive backs in this class and is putting a nice cap on his high school career during his senior year.
The 6’2 180 corner seems to still be flying under-the-radar with his recruitment this year with some small college offers but is very much deserving of D2 and FCS attention. He’s leading the Patriots in receiving on top of being their top DB and has a ton of potential and upside at the next level in a variety of roles. Ferrell’s length causes issues for QBs and WRs, and he has the speed to run step-for-step with most receivers. As we’ve said before, his ceiling may be highest at safety in college with his skill set, but if he has the fluidity to stick to college receivers, his ceiling raises even further.

did just that in the Patriots’ week one shutout of St. Albans. It appears Ferrell will be playing safety this season which we had a hunch may be his best position with a high ceiling for that spot. He has a lot of length and speed to play on the backend of the defense and should thrive more there compared to corner. If week one is a glimpse into what’s to come for Ferrell this season, he’s primed for a huge senior year. Ferrell made his mark on defense as well on a 77-yard deep post which saw him beat the St. Albans’ defenders by five yards over the top and outrace them to the endzone.

Another very underrated George Washington prospect who we’ve been high on for a while is 2025 DB

. It’s been surprising that he hasn’t received for D1 attention to this point but a big senior season could change that quickly for him. You can’t teach long and athletic corners and Ferrell has safety versatility and potential if colleges prefer him there. You can leave him on an island with no safety help and feel comfortable with him shutting down one side of the field on his own. Ferrell is a fluid athlete for his size with flexible hips and the speed and stride to close on passes well. His size also creates difficulty for receivers to play the ball over him and he can further utilize it in press situations.
Ferrell is a must-offer prospect for all D2 programs in the state and should receiver more FCS attention this season.

for a while now and are big believers in him being a D1 prospect. The first trait you notice right away with him is his 6’2 length for the corner position. Ferrell’s length makes it difficult for the ball to get over him when he’s in a good position to play it and minimizes the receiver’s catch radius greatly. He’s a fluid athlete with natural athleticism and the speed and quickness to play man coverage and beat his man to the spot. Ferrell’s combination of length and speed allows him to play the ball well in the air and led to 9 passes defended in 2023 along with 2 interceptions. He also showed he can play the run and close quickly on screen passes when he’s on the play side and is a quality tackler in the open field. Ferrell’s big play ability flashed on offense as well last season when he was needed where he caught 4 passes for 119 yards averaging 29.8 YPC and a touchdown on every other catch.
Ferrell has the ability to play at the D1 level with the raw athleticism and size that programs at that level look for in a cornerback.

increased his state ranking by 7 spots but made a big jump in the position rankings from the #6 DB to the #2 ranked DB in the class. We wanted to see how he handled the move from South Charleston to George Washington for his junior season and Ferrell performed very well. He led the Patriots in passes defended with 9 and picked off two passes this season. Ferrell is a long corner at 6’2 and that great size for the position showed up on film when making plays on the ball which led to his team-leading 9 PDs. Ferrell is a good man-to-man coverage corner whose size gives him a high ceiling at the position and the versatility to potentially play safety at the next level.

has the #1 spot locked down but our #2 ranked DB has a lot of upside and should see some D1 interest in the future.

. Ferrell is a long corner at 6’2 170 and has the athleticism to pair with his upper-tier length. I think he moves very well for a long defensive back and could play corner at the next level. Ferrell is another corner that’s tasked with playing man coverage which at 6’2 is impressive to watch because he can run with smaller receivers. Another aspect of his game that I liked seeing is his willingness to be physical in the run game. At his size, he could slide over to safety in college and be solid in run defense but I firmly believe he has the ability and athleticism to stay as a long corner at the next level.
