McKenzie is an athlete and that shows from his seamless transition to WR to SS this previous season. Measures in at 6’0 180-pounds. He had 107 total tackles (40 solo, 67 assisted), 2 TFL, 2 sacks, 2 INT, 1 FF, and 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown. McKenzie has very good athletic ability due to his very good acceleration, jumping, speed, and good change of direction. Very good read and reaction speed. Will make first contact with a running back from his deep zone. Great coverage skills. Very good man and zone. Fluid hips to match WR breaking out of their stem. He stays stride for stride with the receiver. Will use his very good closing quickness to create pass deflections. Very good tackling using his strength to stop the ball carrier where they are. When he’s lined up in the box, he shows off his explosive take off ability when blitzing. Good bend around the edge and breaks into the backfield. I believe he will consistently keep improving and keep showing why he’s a must recruit prospect from the box state.

McKenzie was stellar in his first year playing safety. Last year, he was previously a wide receiver and translated his skills to the defensive side. Measures in at 6’0 180-pounds, he had 107 total tackles (40 solo, 67 assisted), 2 TFL, 2 sacks, 2 INT, 1 FF, 1 FR for a TD. He has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, jumping, and good change of direction. Very good read and reaction speed. He puts himself in position to make a play. When he’s out in his zone, and sees it’s run, he’ll come down and make that first contact against the running back. Aggressive and strong tackler. McKenzie does a great job in coverage as well. Very good man coverage and zone coverage. Sticky in man coverage, staying stride for stride with the WR. He uses his very good closing quickness to create pass break ups too. Sometimes he will be in the box to blitz and does a great job at it. He uses his explosive take off speed and good strength to blaze past the OL and get in the backfield. With another off-season under his belt at safety, I believe McKenzie will reach another level with his game.

McKenzie enters 2025 as one of the Bruins emerging weapons after an offseason that put him on the recruiting radar with multiple Division I offers. Despite limited reps last season, McKenzie’s size, athleticism and playmaking ability give him the potential to exploit mismatches. In a deep receiving room, he could find himself drawing favorable coverage as defenses focus on Cherry Creek’s established stars. McKenzie’s knack for creating separation and turning intermediate routes into long gains makes him a dangerous secondary option. Week 1 presents the perfect chance for him to announce his arrival on the state’s biggest stage and prove he belongs among Colorado’s elite young receivers.

McKenzie is a rising young receiver for Cherry Creek and the Mile High Prep team this spring! Measuring in at 5’11 160-pounds. McKenzie has very good athletic ability due to very good speed, acceleration, jumping, and change of direction. He has the rare ability to decelerate and accelerate instantaneously. Very good release vs press jam and off coverage. He beats the DB with his shifty feet. Very good separation quickness due to his athletic ability and mental processing. Out runs the DB or exploits weaknesses in the zone. Very good catching. He extends his arms, plucks the ball with his suction hands. Very good body control and adjustment. He made a catch on the sideline, pivoted around and it turned it into a TD. After the catch, he uses his strength and physicality to consistently break tackles getting extra yardage. McKenzie is a very good blocker. He gets physical and aggressive, locking out the LB or DB to create a running lane. He is a fantastic young receiver, who is excellent in each aspect of his game. Colleges NEED to look his way.
